The service was terrible. When I arrived I had to stand at the counter in the pro shop and stare at the "Old Pros shooting the breeze for over 5 MINUTES before being acknowledged (if you dont want or like your job on a course dont waste the golfers time, do us all a favor and quit). The greens fees for a course with crappy tee boxes muddy uneven divot infested fairways with a lack luster indoor operations crew are astronomically high and unreasonable. The starters have no idea what they are doing...they put a twosome of ladies in front for a foursome of single digit handicappers and the ladies wouldnt let us play through and there was not a ranger in sight, nor would the pro shop send one out when phoned. Rocks and debris in the sandtraps make saving par almost impossible, not to mention inconsistencies in the speed of the greens. I know about 50 people who after receiving this review ( which will be forwarded to all golf course review forums as well as golfnow) will redirect their golfing budgets to other courses where the staff actually gives a crap about the customer. This is a service business not a retail quickstop and should be treated as such ESPECIALLY with such high "public-course" green fees. Sincerely, an unsatisfied aggravated avid golfer.

Mohansic is a fantastic golf course (I play here more often than anywhere else). The course conditions in the summer have been perfect yet still improving the last 4 seasons that Ive lived in the area. Some of the greens are heavily sloped, so to make the greens playable and consistent, the greens are not fast, but a good speed to make putts. Depending on the day the rough can be penalizing to brutal. It is a public golf course, so you can count on some footprints in the bunkers, and the sand will be wet/packed and unraked after recent rain since they cant send folks out to rake them. Without recent rain the bunkers are very good. The golf course is very difficult but very fair. Upon first play you may scratch your head at some of the holes, but if you play it a few times, youll see the brilliance of it and figure a strategy to beat the holes provided you can execute. If you are a 5 handicapper, good luck breaking 80 on this par 70. If you are a 15 handicapper, good luck breaking 90. If the play is slow, relax and enjoy the views (my average play time is probably 4.5 hours on the course). The staff has always been friendly to me.

The course gets 4 stars because it is a challenging golf course with unique holes. Not a boring play at all. A truly wonderful layout. Some holes challenge with length, others require precision. The fairways and greens are typically in excellent shape. Greens have been phenomenal the past few seasons. 3 greens on the course can be frustrating. 5, 8, and 15. They arent fair because they have too much slope and are the reason this course isnt 5-stars. Bunkers have traditionally been a problem here due to drainage problems but they spent a ton of $ recently improving the drainage and replaced the sand with crushed shell. Much improved. Practice facilities are very nice. Driving range, chipping/sand green, and a large putting green. Resturaunt/bar is nice with decent food and good prices. Live music at the resturaunt can be annoying during the day.

These people do not know what they are doing. Stopped in at noon today and inquired about getting out as a single. They said that there was nothing currently available, but they was an opening at 2:30. I left my name and phone number, and proceeded to the practice range, where I spent another $20, hit balls and putted for 2 hours and 15 minutes. When I got back to the Pro Shop, I was told there was nothing available. Nothing Available ? Wasent I told that the first opening was 2:30 and to come back then? So much for service. To make things worse, as I left the clubhouse after speaking my mind, there was a twosome teeing off the first tee ? Thank you sooooo much for wasting 3 hours of my time. Ill never be back again.

Course was a five, staff a two. Requested directions to carts - individual in the Pro Shop pointed in a general direction and states over there. Starter was a huge pain, especially after the poor instructions from the Pro Shop. Group was present at the Starter on time and he berated us for not being early, then told us we would have to wait as the group behind us was ready. They werent and neither was the group behind them. He begrudgingly let us Start, but yelled at us to be quick about it.

Best Westchester county public course. Pace of play can sometimes be slow, but course is in great shape. With a park pass it is also pretty cheap.
