We are Central FL residents and visited this park to go tubing. We went around the middle of September, (so after school was back in session to avoid crowds). It was still hot (96 degrees) so the cool spring water felt great. The scenery was beautiful! The cons are this- even in this "off season" there was enough people floating down to make it less than peaceful. If you are looking to enjoy the peaceful solitude and quietness of nature you really dont get that here. But if youre looking to be loud and be around others who are also loud this is a great place for you. LOTS of teenagers there and theyre there more for social hour than enjoying the scenery. Next time we will probably rent a kayak or canoe and go to Wekiwa where you can actually get away from all the noise and enjoy the serenity of nature. A few notes if you have kids-- I wish we had known ahead of time so hopefully this helps someone... First, there is a concession stand but it is NOT open year round. We were there on a weekday and it was closed. So plan on bringing your own food. Second, if you have a child who may be old enough for their own tube but they (or you) are uneasy about the fact you may get separated, bring a rope or bungee cord. The lady who rented the tubes to us told us most parents will tie their kids tubes to their tube via a rope. But she didnt have one and neither did we, but if we ever come back we will definitely bring one. Third, like other reviewers mentioned, there are certain areas that are very rocky. There are also fire ants and bees on the rocks around the spring head. Water shoes are a must. My daughter first wanted to go barefoot, and even though she wasnt where the rocks were, she felt algae on her feet and got freaked out. So she put her flip flops on, which kept falling off. So water shoes are a must! And make sure you wear comfortable ones as there is a bit of a walk from the very end of the run all the way back to the very top of the springs. So doing this a few times will make you wish you had some comfy water shoes. Lastly, like another reviewer said about their items getting stolen- you cant leave your personal possessions unattended. You just cant. Towels, sure, but cell phones or keys? Absolutely not. We left everything in our car, and when we went tubing took only our keys (which I had in my baggies pocket).

We came on a late Wednesday morning. The park was packed though because it was summertime I guess. The water is very clear and cold. You know, typical spring water. The very tip of the head of the spring is closed off, but its very small anyway. Theres no big pool like Wekiwa. A small jump (or climb) down gets you into the water, and its about a 20 minute ride down to the end of the run. Theres several life guards along the way, it seems more regulated than other parks, no coolers in the water :( Its narrow in a lot of places and very shallow in a few places. The deepest part is about 4 or 5 feet maybe. But, we still had fun! It was very relaxing to float down at a moderate pace and enjoy nature. They also had a concession store to get burgers, hot dogs, etc. Definitely get an innertube, its too shallow to just swim through. Theres a few places nearby to rent one for a few dollars. If youre coming from highway 429 like us, the first place you see will be the only chance to get an innertube rental. Its in the parking lot at the Rock Springs Bar and Grill. It was 5 bucks each for the whole day. However, if you go make a right on rock springs road, theres a place on the right side of the road that rents them for 3 dollars each. If youre coming from Rock Springs road, youll see like 3 or 4 different places to rent one. Or you can bring your own.. This park gets 4 stars because the water is shallow, and the ride down is only 20 minutes, then you gotta walk back to the beginning. But it is a nice park.

Early July, we arrived early enough to get in and park. We walked the unmarked path to beginning of the float down the river. It was a nice peaceful float. It took about 15-20 minutes. We only made it down the river once. We decided to break for lunch. We being 4 responsible adult women, and of course all our kids, had packed a few, and by a few, I mean literally less than a 6 pack of beer. When we saw the sign saying no alcohol we did not bring the beer out of the cooler. The park security came out of the blue and walked up and searched or coolers without permission, and of course found the beer unopened. He told or whole group of 4 cars that we had 15 minutes to get the whole group together and loaded up and out of the park. There were no signs warning us of how strict they were, there was no chance to throw the beer out even at the gate. I believe this is a bit unfair practice. We drove almost 2 hours to visit the park. I understand being strict with the no alcohol but be a little understanding when we dont know the rules until we get into the park. Dont kick us out with no chance to throw it away or anything. Other than this partial bad experience, the park and the water were beautiful so I do plan to go back again.

Absolutely loved it! We went on the first Friday of August. It was quite crowded in the shallow "pool" areas of the springs (the day campers were there). Going down the lazy river means walking up to the top of the spring, figuring out how you can best get into it, and then quickly floating over shallower rocks and into deeper water. If you dont want to go so quickly then you might get in at the right end of the pools and floating down the right side go to the end. *This is not a great place to swim for those who have problems with walking or for those who cannot climb wet steps that are tall. I needed help using the stairs getting out of the water each time. Small children need parental help too. Things to note- get there no later than 10 in summer - there are grills there but to use them for lunch, get there earlier than 10 (you cant bring one) - there are many, many trees for shade (no umbrellas, canopies or tents in swim areas) -no alcohol -bring tubes or rent from vendors (located OUTSIDE of park for $5 each) /think about how you will transport them (most people held them up against the car on the outside) -plan to be here for at least 4 hours if you are or have kids 8-50 years old! Have fun.

My wife and I went to kelly park last weekend. We found a spot to put our bag which had our keys in it under a bench. we went out into the water for about 35 minutes. When we came back our bag was gone, after we asked the guards and looked around for almost 20 minutes my wife returned to the car to drop off our tubes and was followed to our car. she returned to the guard station and we were told to return to our car and wait for our ride to come with our spare keys. upon returning to where our car was parked we realized the car was missing. The head guard was EXTREMELY RUDE!!! she would not let us set our tubes near the station to make a phone call for our ride to come and drop off our keys. She told us that we could NOT leave our tubes and that we could NOT use the phone, so we had to return to our car and then we were followed. What im trying to say is that the head guard was rude, and our car, phones, wallets, and other personal items were stolen from the parking lot in the middle of the day. the people that were there that day were not very trust worthy, and shady. If you value your personal item DO NOT GO TO KELLY PARK!!!!!!!!
