Walking or riding, youll have fun playing golf at Skungamaug. This enjoyable countryside course can challenge you to think about every shot as youre likely to hit every club in your bag during the round. Some tee shots favor a mid to long iron to ensure the ball remains in play. There are opportunities to shape shots off the tee for risk / reward play. Some greens accept high approach shots while others can also be played using bump and run. Sprinkler heads provide yardage and the course measurements are also available for SkyCaddie or other GPS golf systems. Hazards are clearly marked and visible from all Tees so there are no surprises. This semi-private course is maintained in excellent condition with tightly cut greens and nice plantings throughout the course. There is a grass practice range, with putting green and chipping practice area. While open to the public, there are also yearly memberships available, as well as clubs for men and women to play tournaments on weekends, and mens and womens leagues during the week. The pro-shop is well stocked and is run by a very friendly PGA professional who is also an excellent teacher. There are golf camps for kids of all ages to learn the game, as well as private lessons available at a separate teaching area. The course owners are very committed to promoting junior golf with special rates and tournaments. The clubhouse is a warm, sociable place to relax after the round with a full bar, and features tasty, homemade sandwiches, soups and burgers. Having played Skungamaug for over 20 years, it has been enjoyable to see the course improve each year with widened fairways, and new tees and greens. I highly recommend you give it a try.

I have been a member at Skunkamug River Golf Club for 2 years now, however, I have been coming for a lot longer. I grew up playing this course and I am happy to report it is still in fairly good shape. The course does get a little patchy and wet on a few holes, mainly #s 3, 5, and 11. Other than that, the course is challenging and fun. The clubhouse is a little dated, but still retains that "old golf friends" feel to it. The food is amazing as well, I would highly recommend trying a hot dog, not sure how they make them so good! The course is best during summer and early fall. During the spring its a bit too wet for my tastes.

Skungamaug is a well run golf coarse that is inviting. Ive never had any issues at the coarse, and it is where I learned to play golf. I highly recommended the summer camp for all kids wanting to learn how to play. The PGA pro, Rick Nelson, is a very good teacher. The coarse is a really good one for its price.

This is a fun place to golf. The staff is friendly and the course is in nice shape. The back 9 is definitely more challenging but doesnt take away from having a good time.
