This is for the Coffee Shop: Some days you want to eat at a diner. You want vinyl seats, white Formica counter tops, and blue plate specials. You want a waitress who appears to not care but secretly loves this place more than her kids, and pie thats better than Moms. Grilled cheese, burgers, and malts that make you weep quietly into your whipped cream. Of course, these places dont really exist outside of Hollywood, but if youre in San Jose, go to The Coffee Shop. Its not impossibly perfect. But its a perfect diner. We had the blue plate special after the kind of cold day where you lose your toes and would gladly climb over your own mother to get back inside and it warmed me to the tips of my fingers. Meat, potatoes, a side of veggies, and dessert, all of them good, rich, and homemade. Even the Italian dressing was made in the house, which is so charming to see. Im always surprised to find a restaurant that cooks its own food.

This is my favorite place to bowl in the area. I took a bowling class nearby at SJSU and got really into bowling for a while. 4th Street seems to be the best maintained and just generally most pleasant place to bowl. Prices are good and usually its not too crowded. I bought a ball and shoes at the pro shop here as well. I dont consider myself a pro bowler by any means and the staff was very helpful in giving me tips and helping me select the right ball. Overall its the go to place for me when I feel like bowling.

This place treats bowlers with respect as they are fans of the game unlike other places that just dont give a whack...(Moonlite for example)--specifically, the setters work very well and break down rarely, the lanes are kept properly oiled for leagues and they do not play music like Moonlite insists on doing during league play. The staff Pro, Tony Reyes is one of the finest, most likable and most knowledgeable people you will ever meet and his presence alone is worth doing business with 4th Street.

The café at the bowling alley is our go-to for weekend breakfast, not because it is the best, but because there is usually only a short wait. San Jose is severely lacking in good breakfast spots so the lines can be unbearable at other places. No one seems to know about the 4th St. Bowl café. As for the food, it is standard fare but does include some tasty surprises like Javiers special scramble of eggs, hot dogs, tomatoes and green onions. They also serve some Hawaiian favorites like Loco Moco.

Went bowling here the other day and it was a lot of fun. We came on a Sunday during the day and it wasnt crowded at all and quiet which was nice. The lanes are nice and taken care of. The shoes even seemed cleaner than some of the other bowling alleys Ive been too. Its nice because they also have pool tables and a place to grab some food. The pool tables are charged by the hour and if you play just one game you end up just usually paying less than 5 dollars.

One of the poor bowling alley I went to. Poorly maintained lanes and tables. Bowling balls are hard to find. Size and finger holes do not match. They have a full bar but not even one tap for draft beer. One kid rails for entire bowl and only 2 kids size ball. Not at all Kid friendly place. People with kids, stay away and find better place. Staffs are very rude and not willing to help you.

Found this place near the San Jose airport. Classic bowling alley cafe. Long counter with many seats, booths as well. I tried the Loco Moco. Great! Two eggs and a hamburger patty over white rice covered with brown gravy. Unique flavor to the gravy. Eggs and burger cooked perfectly. Very tasty! My coffee was never less than half full. Excellent service!

Was placed on a broken lane and was not helped to another. We could have bowled 4 games in the time that it took to bowl 2 games. The teenage looking employees lied about cutting our prices. They told us that they would cut the prices, but when we got to the register, they charged us the full price. Shady, ghetto. I will never go back.

My go to spot for a lazy breakfast on Sundays. Sometimes breakfast happens at 9:00 AM, but more often at noon or even 2:00 PM. The food is always good and reasonably priced. The service is friendly and efficient. They are usually bustling but the wait to get your coffee topped off is never very long. Ive been coming here for years.

only came here cause we had a company party here. otherwise if i had to pay i would not choose to come to this place. its old, dirty and run down. reminds me of the 80s. food is bleh. bowling is bleh. maybe if i was i. my 70s and in a bowling league i would enjoy it. but even then, maybe.

Nice place to hangout with friends.. Has an attracted pub and coffee shop that open till late.. Cocktails are really good. I Prefer going during weekday nights due to lower rates. Only annoying thing about this place is that you usually dont find right size bowls.

Cheap, old school bowling. No bells or whistles like the other local spots. Cant really beat that, especially for the price. Bar policy: one beer per ID is a pain in the backside. Wish theyd allow pitchers of beer, but Im sure theyve had issues in the past.

The bowling was great. Not too expensive. The bar was acceptable no beers on tap only in bottle. The bathrooms were terrible, dirty, missing toilet paper and hand towels. The Karaoke was disorganized. Many of the songs that were in the book werent available.

Bowling alley is very old and had limited size balls for use. At least our lane didnt freeze up. Played pool afterwards. Worst tables and balls ever. 8 dollars for an hour, but charged 10 dollars for 45 minutes. What a rip. Will never go back.

This review is for the Cafe. There arent many local joints left in San Jose. Locals steam in all morning at the Cafe to eat, talk, do business. Some dont speak at all except order. Breakfast is pretty standard diner fare, atmosphere is classic.

One of the three Bowling spots left in San Jose. Its an old building, but it feels timless. The inside contains the bowling alley, a really, really good restaurant, and a bar with karaoke. Super fun spot and affordable. Highly recommended.

Perfect 1950s bowling alley with a bar and diner attached - a great slice of nostalgia! Also if youre a serious bowler, check out the pro shop and get Lindsey to size you up for a custom ball at a super reasonable price!

Went here for breakfast! Believe it, I ate a great breakfast here twice! The service was spot on and the food was wonderful. Very unexpected. Make a note that they do not serve bloody marys until 11am. ;-)

Restaurant doesnt like bowlers and charge them higher prices and no soft drink refills for bowlers. Why are they in a bowling alley? They charge $2.75 and soda machine is $1 What a ripoff and not that good

Great, friendly service. Old fashioned diner atmosphere. Food was well priced for quantity, and very tasty. Would definitely recommend this over IHOP or Dennys if youre around the airport in San Jose.
