Its hard to rate this club. The venue is sweet. The lights change colors with the music and the sound system is great. The night I went here they had really good electronic artists. It was set to be a fun night. If I only had to rate it on those criteria, definitely 4 stars. It could use some seating for the general public. The minimum $300 for what amounts to a coffee table on the dance floor is a bit much. On to the meat. I dont know if I went on a night where the bouncers were having a bad day, but I felt bullied by them. It was early in the night, and no one was really dancing, but the DJ started laying down some sick beats, so I went to dance. I wasnt being obnoxious, dangerous, or a nuisance in any way to anyone. I was in a mostly empty portion of the dance floor having a great time all by myself. All of a sudden, a bouncer pulls me aside, thinking Im on drugs. Im stone cold sober. When he realizes that, he tells me I need to turn it down a notch. Weird. I could understand if I was being ridiculous in some over the top manner, but this was not the case. With the wind out of my sails, I perch on a wall to catch my breath, shake off the momentary embarrassment and recharge. 5 minutes later the same bouncer comes by and tells me that if Im going to be stoic and not dancing, then I need to go home. At this point, I felt angry. No desire to dance anymore. MIGHT DANCE TOO HARD AND BE REMOVED! Lame. The rest of the clubbers never got going from what I saw. Regardless of the intensity of the music, they vibrated in place. Lame and tame is not the name of the game for me. People tell me my experience was a fluke, that SF is awesome and fun. Lets hope so, because this club was a huge disappointment.

Everything thats wrong with SF nightlife today. SF used to be a place where if a headliner DJ was playing, chances are you could go out and have a good time regardless of the venue or the crowd. Things have changed in SF, and after last night I thought to myself: "I never want to set foot in a nightclub again." The venue itself is cheesy as hell. The graphics and lighting are not aesthetically pleasing. Theres no place to sit in the main room unless you purchase a package including table service. The people were rowdy, fist-pumping, drunk assholes. The opening DJs were awful in terms of flow, consistency of track selections, and technical prowess. The cover was $30 EACH! WTF... Granted the headliner was going to be Green Velvet of Chicago. However, we had such a poor experience in the time we spent here waiting for the headliner last night, we decided to leave before that happened. We just couldnt take it. The only redeeming quality was the attention we were afforded by the bar staff. Definitely top-notch. However, not at all enough to save this horrible evening we had at Temple. I suppose for some of SFs young, tech, new-money transplants, an overpriced, undeniably subpar evening at Temple will do. However, after frequenting bars and clubs in the Bay Area for almost twenty years, I feel Temple has nearly ruined all of it for everyone.

Untasteful music in all 3 dancing areas. Very annoying sound system. 96% Asian, no offense so Asians, but I like veriety of people (which also includes Asians but not the whole club). Forget about dancing, 99.9% of everyone in the club had zero sense of rhythm & didnt know how to move to to a basic beat. Very annoying when everyone around you is running around, jumping up-n-down, and acting like a dork. Immature crowd and atmosphere, lots of under 21. Didnt see a single woman, or even a guy for that matter, that looked like an interesting person to meet/talk/get to know. Looks like the mickey mouse club in there (Im 26 by the way). I woke up in the morning and felt like I had gone out to a kids birthday party. Ordered cranberry & vodka, tasted like straight up cranberry juice. That was 1st time I went clubbing in SF and I feel like I went out to the worst club in all of bay area! Best part was looking around and LMAO at people acting like dorks.

Wow. This venue is hot. Multi-level and several different rooms each with their own DJ, dance floor and bar. The music and the mix of people was great, no attitudes or bs that I could see, and I think staff had a lot to do with that. My date has cerebral palsy and confined to a wheelchair, but she was treated like a rock star and got VIP treatment. A kind staffer pulled us out of line when we were waiting in the rain and gave her and our helper free passes. And several times we got help moving thru the crowd by clued staff who cleared a path we otherwise couldnt have done alone. The top of the top however was getting flagged by the dj on the main floor and staff comming to get her and bringing her front and center where we danced and made out right in front of everybody like it was just another Friday night. As I write this she is still glowing and likely will for a very long time to come. Definitely the best night out clubbing we have had by far.

*This bar uses physical intimidation to maintain its reputation.* Terrible experience from start to finish: 1) No where on the website does it say a) no hats or b) no tanks. Friends wearing either were denied entry 2) Venue denied drinks to a friend with no justification (this friend had literally just entered and not even had the opportunity to drink) 3) When leaving, a bouncer (from 3/4-3/5/17) got up in all of our faces and accused my friend of inappropriate touching. We were literally through the doorway and out, no one was nearby. When I questioned this bouncer if he was right, he got in my face and threatened me physically if I would dispute him. We left. *This bar uses physical intimidation to maintain its reputation.* I, nor any of my friends, will every come back to this bar. If you value your safety or dignity, go to one of the many *other* bars or clubs nearby. This club does NOT deserve your patronage.

Im definitely a fan of the new look of Temple now. The sound system and all the crazy lights and lasers are a huge step up from what was there before. The improvements to the lower floor also make it feel a lot less dungeony. Its now brighter and more welcoming. Temple also gets some good names to dj now, which is another bonus. The only thing stopping me from being excited about Temple is the crowd. It just gets way too crowded and hot inside. Its hard for me to have a good time when theres no room to move around and dance. While Temple definitely looks really pretty inside now, I never really feel like going unless my friends want to.
