Great wines, nice tour, generous tasting. Good "museum". I consider it a "must see" for new visitors to get a good overall feel of wine country. It is an excellent example of Sonoma County wineries and has a lot of history, plus the sparkling aspect, which is the focus here. However, do NOT give them your email address or sign up for their Wine Club. They will not remove you on request, their mailings do not contain an unsubscribe link (as required by law), and they send email with everyones email address in the "TO" field so that all recipients get your email address! Replying to their email to try to unsubscribe bounces. When you try to use their contact form to discuss this, they REQUIRE that you agree to receive promotions from them and their "partners" (In other words, will sell your email address!). If you dont agree, the form will not be submitted. I signed up at the winery for their "club" in order to get discounts, and then tried to use my discount immediately to purchase some wine to take home. They told me I couldnt do that, that my discount would not take effect until they shipped me my first case of wine! This despite the fact that I can purchase their wines cheaper at Safeway than at the winery even with the discount. In short, great wine. Great tour, Beautiful grounds. Generous tastings. But dont sign up for anything, give them your email, or buy anything from the winery. If you want some of their wines, stop off at grocery, where they are regularly discounted (recently all the Korbel wines at Safeway were being sold for $9.99).

Excellent tasting the prime wine served only at Korbel titled Kings Reserve. I traveled all the way down River Road to Korbel to find champagne for a wedding only to end up buying red wine cabaret in the redwood forests of Guerneville. Remember to take the tour of their cellars when visiting Sonoma County Wine Country in Northern California. The Czechs are famous for brewing sparkling wines. I lived in Prague, where the Czechs took great pride in visiting the Korbel brothers champagne cellars. Washington DC served Korbel exclusively as the wine of choice for six Presidential inaugurations. Many of the best wines were limited edition so you cannot buy them in Las Vegas, Houston or New York City. You have to buy the bottles at the Korbel cellars. For example, The Kings Reserve. The wine is true perfection. The treasure never leaves the property unless you walk into the Korbel treasury. The Korbel Deli next to the tasting room for champagne as specialty sandwiches with fresh dairy cheeses bought from dairy farms in the area of forests and gardens. Fresh vegetables, fresh herbs, sales, pastries and baked breads prepared daily. You can buy your wine with a basket full of amazing epicurean treats and drive west to the ocean or stop along the redwood trees.

Overall the experience here was great. The intro to the movie of the beginning of the Korbel winery and the tour was great. Really made me appericiate why Korbel is such a great company. The have been making champagne for such a long time. The ha e rebulit after earthquakes and still kept going. All this made me buy a bottle of Korbel sweet cuvee at the end of the tour. I bought this bottle because the informant told me that you could only order it from Napa valley and was not shipped anywhere else in the country. I told my fiance we will serve this at our wedding! Until I got back to Colorado and saw that the same bottle I paid 25 dollars for was 14.99 here at my local liquor store! I was lied too so much that it ruined my experience! What else would Korbel lie about if not just a simple bottle. I was told to have it at my wedding I would need to special order it and only to find out I can buy it in Colorado for less!

Their complimentary tour and tastings are a huge plus in these rough economic times, especially as close as they are to a college town. Be sure to try their Riesling Champagne, which successfully balances sweetness and bubbliness with none of the overwhelmingly syrupy qualities that have given dessert wines a bad reputation. The tour opens well with views of vine rows across the street and "Rapunzels Tower" recessed off of the main path, but some visitors may wish to forego its 10+ minute video portion in favor of an independent walk past lovingly pruned roses into a well-stocked, gourmet delicatessen.

After over 20 years of visiting friends that have homes in Sonoma, we went this last year for my first time. Took the very reasonably priced tour and was fascinated by our tour guides friendliness and knowledge. Loved seeing the old and antique things throughout the tour. Also how things were done a long time ago. The best part was the champagne tasting at the end of the tour, outdoors in a beautiful setting. By the way tried a couple of drinks and food at the restaurant first, both were very good. Was with friends and it was a nice addition to our grand tour of Sonoma and Napa.

An amazing way to end our long, weekend getaway. Wonderful tour and tasting, even found out that YES they are allowed to call Korbel Champagne champagne even though they are here in the US of A. This is definitely a MUST if you have ever had Korbel or any champagne for that matter. The history alone from the tour was well worth it and then to taste the bubbly after - WIN, WIN!! Lets just say our home will NOT be without a few wonderful bubbles of Korbel Champagne after our visit - make sure you get YOURS!

What a poor tasting experience. We were rushed through our tasting. Then told to walk to the gift shop if we wanted to make a purchase. Youll feel like youre just a number here. But hey its a free tasting. While you are here definitely head into Guerneville and try the restaurant Boone! Also if you are looking for a great Pinot Noir check out Joseph Jewell winery in Forestville!

Omg! Amazing experience, best of our day! Theo was extremely accommodating and helped our group of NINE PEOPLE have a beautiful tasting with and incredible amount of information an helpfulness! I wish that every winery was like this and encourage everyone to join at Korbel! The tasting is free and the employees are the best in the business! We will be back soon!

The bubbly tasting is free, though the sparkly wines are tasty, the experience wasnt special at all. It was kinda "get in line and rush your tasting", the glasses werent very clean and the servers were casually dressed. I guess thats what you get for a free tasting. I rather pay a bit of money and have a nicer experience.

Korbel winery is at a beautiful location among the redwood trees. At this historic location you can take a (free!) tour and tasting to learn about the history of the winery and how they make their wine. And if you want to take home a bottle or two of their California champagne, they are very reasonably priced.

I was in the middle of a tasting when my hostess wandered off and started chatting with a new couple. I waited patiently while she got them oriented, but 10 minutes later she still hadnt returned. I had planned to buy a couple bottles of wine, but instead left empty handed and greatly dissatisfied.
