We rented a room for birthday party for my little brother. My mom was recently diagnosed with cancer. She came back to US just to make a birthday party for her 5 years old son because he has all his friends here. She tried her best to make it a fun birthday so my brother will remember it. My mom doesnt speak English. When she came to Star Center Tacoma to purchase a package Front desk just point to her where to sign contract but nobody never explain anything. Please people read contract before you deal with them. We had an issue that kids had meal and desert first. Then when they were ready to play, staff locked our door (in the room we rent) so our kids wont go to playground. They told us that kids should of play first hour instead of eat and now they can just sit in the room and cry. When we went to front desk to complaint they refused to help. After we insist to speak to manager or supervisor they called to Malaika Robinson. We got a chance to speak to her only on the phone. She said read the contract (sometimes kids will have time to play for the first hour or only the last hour). She also said that they call usually on Thursday to remind and explain about party but nobody never call. We dont even have any missed calls or voice mails at all. MALAIKA also said that the reason they cant do anything because there is another party and they cannot let 2 partys on the playground at the same time. However, right away she offered to purchase day pass for every kid when center closing in less than an hour, so then they can have all this kids on playground at the same time. She refused to answer my question. People please be Careful! They do not care about kids they care how to screw you and get as much money as possible from you!

Do NOT use STAR Center for any important events! We are a community organization and had a big announcement, so we wanted to go beyond our usual budget and have the event at the beautiful STAR center. Its expensive but if things had gone smoothly it would have been worth it. The first red flag was when we arrived for set up and their staff asked if they could take some of our tables and chairs for another event - but even then it would have been far too late to relocate. We had a big presentation with a series of 6 speakers and two videos. Unfortunately, in the middle of the second speaker the audio system cut out, and their staff were unable to fix it. So we had to cancel the two videos and our presenters had to shout throughout the rest of the presentation. We made it work, but it was definitely disappointing. Afterwards I asked for a partial refund, but they were only willing to refund $30 of the $730 price tag. We definitely wont be using STAR Center again.

STAR Center is a Metro Parks Tacoma community center with facilities , programs and fitness classes for all age groups. The facility is relatively new, well designed and is LEED certified. There are five large and small rooms for fitness classes and events plus a well equipped gym, kids treetop play area, Kinesis room, a Subway sandwich ship and first rate demonstration kitchen for culinary classes. Beautiful fireplace and lounge area. Staff and instructors are great!

Great place, I recommend. The staff is small but nice and they have a Subway inside! The only problem is in order to really do anything you have to have a membership. The membership are reasonably priced with discounts for both families and seniors. They have all kinds of programs to take like martial arts and painting, even a full size kitchen for cooking classes. The local Boys and Girls Club of our area is right near by. Id definitely recommend it!

Have you ever seen a diamond in a pile of crap? When you visit this Community Center, you will have seen it. I mean this as no offense to the residents of the community but, the surrounding area is bad, I mean near old school Hilltop bad. Ask for a tour when you visit for the first time, youll see this is the place to spend some time. Take some classes and if you usually visit a local Starbucks to use their WiFi, come here instead.

I love the classes offered at the Star Center. They are taught by passionate individuals and enjoyed by patrons of a variety of ages and abilities. The fitness room is usually not too packed, so the machine you want is often available immediately or shortly. Always friendly and helpful staff. And they have community pools available to patrons at certain times. Prices are very reasonable.

Such a great place for your little ones to play- the indoor play area is enough room for your kiddos to be excited about without losing sight of them. The outdoor play area is wonderful, redone with some truly engaging/ interactive play themes. The water park is great, too. I highly recommend.

I have recently joined the star center and I have been loving it! The group fitness groups are awesome, and the instructors are great!! My son loves the treetop playground that is offered for onsite childcare at a very reasonable price! with your star pass you also have access to 4 area pools!

Its nice they have a spray park and a play ground but what sucks is they have a subway on site but why would you close it at 3pm on a Saturday in 75 Degree weather not very smart I dont think in my eyes so if you come after three you better bring food to eat cause your not gonna get any here

My 3 year old loves the playground/childcare while i workout. The staff have all been super nice, the classes are diverse and make me feel like its worth the hour each time. I usually work out 1 to 2 hours, everyday. Got a membership, which is also super affordable, because I love it here.

My whole family loves the STAR Center!! The gym is small, but really nice (they keep up the maintenance on all of their machines). The indoor play area is awesome, even my 11 year old daughter thinks its great. Also, the events that they hold are so much fun.

I truly enjoy my membership @ Star center. I enjoy the classes and the instructors are the best. I would truly recommend the center to all looking to get fit. Theres access to a pool and gym if group classes arent your thing. Check it out....you wont regret it!

Great place to work out for a reasonable price, including childcare. Only issue is that occasionally there are loud and obnoxious teens. The STAR Center is working to fix this issue with notices that are posted regarding behavior of kids under 18 on site.

I love this place has helped me transform from 275 down to 200. I have been able to train to complete 18 half marathons. Love all the instructors che, Paula, ebony, Alex. Love personal trainer Reilly. Plus others I am forgetting.

My brother was exposed to have his birthday party but for some reason the workers at star center decided to cancel the party because another party took OUR RESERVED ROOM after we already claimed it. Still no refund to this day.
