This was my daughters first experience at Mt. Gilead. Even though she did not stay as long as we had hoped, she has not stopped talking about her experience. She has requested (ok, demanded) that we sign her up again this year. Last summer, she spent one week at another Christian camp which was her first time away from home without knowing someone else. She has spent time away with classmates but never in a totally new environment. I believe that was a lot for her to manage but she has spoken of how well she was treated and how welcomed she felt. Although she has grown up in a Christian home and attends a predominantly African American church, she felt welcomed. She learned new songs; met new friends; and grew in her knowledge of the Lord. She also conquered some fears (climbing the mountain). She enjoyed the night time swimming and times of devotion. She remembered that during a time when a dinner menu did not include non-pork items and when she mentioned her dietary restrictions, the team was able to find something for her to eat. It was an amazing experience for her and she plans to return. As parents, we felt that we left our baby in safe hands and that when we had concerns, your approach was kind and understanding. Even when she decided not to return (much to our surprise and disappointment), you allowed us to make adjustments to our commitment. Thank you! I would highly recommend Mt. Gilead. Thank you for providing our daughter with an amazing summer experience. See you later this year!

My daughters first experience at Mt. Gilead was the "short stay" (half of a week) designed for young, first-time campers. This was the PERFECT introduction to the camp; both for my daughter and for we parents!! She LOVED it! She made friends, liked the counselors, didnt have to take a shower, ate by a campfire and wanted to return the following year for a whole week! We said Yes, wondering if she would still feel the same way the next summer. Well, she did. Her "short stay" at camp had made a lasting impression on her. That was 3 1/2 years ago and shes returned every summer. This year she wants to stay for 2 weeks! And enter the CILT (Counselors in Leadership Training) Program when eligible. We love the Christian influence she receives; prayer, songs, bible verses, devotions, God in nature, fun-loving adult women, all of it has truly made a lasting godly impact on her. We couldnt be happier! I love camp! Its so beautiful, peaceful, fun, exhausting and exciting. I want to live there! Madeline Mack

Were going on our 4th year at Mt. Gilead, and our daughter loves it! We wanted a Christian camp, not too far from home for our 1st time camper, and we found a great fit at Mt. Gilead. Our daughter loved the fact that other counselors (besides her own) knew her name. A smaller camp can allow for that kind of personal attention. As an all-girls camp, the emphasis is on helping girls grow into godly, young women - something we really appreciate. Each year, our daughter comes home with fun songs, happy memories, new experiences, and A LOT of gear from the Tuck Shop (LOL)! Plus, there are so many activities for the girls to choose from. Our daughters favorite activities are Ceramics and Horsemanship. Its great that shes able to ride as part of her camp experience, while still enjoying other activities. Her positive experiences have inspired her to want to participate in the camps Leadership Training program in the next few years to become a counselor. I think thats one of the greatest endorsements of all.

Mt. Gilead is a wilderness journey into the heart of the Creator. When we were a thousand yards from Camp, I would put my head out the car window and breathe my deepest breath. Id jump from the car and scream and run to the lake and lay down along its edge and say hello to the fish. Id climb the hill to the cabins and embrace friends and let time stop, find that quiet mossy place and speak a prayer aloud to God. Pool, canoes, treehouse, singing, campfires all swirl together in this place of safety and growth and courage and stillness. As a camper for 9 years and a counselor for 10 more, this place was where I learned to listen to the Spirit, to love the artistry of the Lord in His work (even in me), and to serve. It is the place of a thousand songs carried like torch-lights into the night of the real world.

My daughter has been attending Mt Gilead for quite a few years. She has also invited friends because she knows they will have just as good of a time. Her favorite parts are archery and riflery, something you dont always see for young girls! She gets so excited when she completes new levels. She has always had caring counselors who help her grow in the Lord. I like that she hears from a variety of speakers, and can spend time away from the hustle and bustle of life and focus on the Lord and relationships. The camp has a lot of excellent amenities. They redid their swimming pool last year, and it is amazing! My daughter loves the new basketball court and gaga court! You wont be disappointed in sending your daughter to Mt. Gilead!

We were extremely pleased with all the effort the staff of Mt. Gilead exerted to make our daughters experience at camp so very special (it was her first time at this camp). The cabin leaders were young and energetic, well trained, and prepared to give all to help and encourage the campers in their spiritual walk with the Lord. The atmosphere of the camp was very welcoming and inviting. The food was great and the activities were fun (our daughter had the opportunity to take horsemanship course and loved it). The songs around the meal times and interaction among the campers and staff was great and we have and would highly recommend this camp to others. 5 STARS PLUS!!!!

My daughter and I have been here on the mother/daughter retreat and it was awesome! Loved the fellowship, leadership and just overall the environment Mt. Gilead gives! My daughter has been there for summer camp and most recently the winter weekend. Every time she is there, she loves it. Her youth leaders are great and she loves that she is comfortable and can gain in her relationship with the lord while she is there. The staff is so friendly and motivational. Definitely great disciples of the Lord. My daughter and I would recommend this camp over and over again. Cant wait for the next event! Sign your kid up for a week or more of summer camp, you wont be disappointed.

I sent my older daughter to Mt. Gilead Camp two years ago. She loved it so much and decided to join their leadership training program. She has now graduated from the program and will serve as a counselor herself this summer. Her younger sister has decided to follow her steps this year as well. The difference between Mr. Gilead and other camps is that they dont just teach the girls the Bible, but also give them opportunities to practice at camp as well as at home. The real life skills the girls learned there are so valuable and no other places can provide the same experience. Now my youngest daughter who is 8 years old wants to go, too!
