I think Quail creek deserves a good review, not the review that says, "it Rocks" but a review that will help you choose if this is the golf course for you. I moved to North Liberty in 2011. I didnt have anywhere to go to play golf for a reasonable price that i could just play and learn the game. I found a home at Quail Creek. I paid $420 for a student summer pass that included all the golf I wanted to play and trust me I played almost daily. Quail creek is a 9 hole golf course that will not only test your skills to hit the ball straight but keep you coming back again and again. I like to describe Quail Creek at the Thai food place in the strip mall that is a diamond in the rough. Its not a place where you pull in and see marvelous gardens and a bag boy waiting on you. The road is a little rough but its not going to ruin your vehicle like some mentioned. The clubhouse is a little dark and only takes cash, There is an ATM inside so dont worry if you forget. They have a bar to load up on your favorite 6 pack before you hit the course. Dont expect a captain and coke however as they dont sell liquor. The carts get the job done, not top of the line by any means. If your a walker this course is for you. Not to many hills and a very pleasant walk. The first hole is one of my favorites. Its par 5 to start with a grass bunker on the left of the fairway and tree trouble on the right of the tee. Its reachable for the long hitters but be careful as there is a creek over the ridge so risk vs reward. The greens here are the best in the Iowa City area. The grounds crew do an outstanding job at maintaining the quality in these greens. Few divot marks and roll absolutely pure. The is undulation in almost every green so in order to score low your mid-game needs to be spot on. Its true they dont water the fairways so if its a drought they fairways may be a little hard. The greens however are in excellent condition year round. The par 3s on this course are tough yet worth coming for! #7 is a 150-180 yard shot with a pond before and hugging the left side. Very fun and intimidating!!! The staff at Quail Creek is more than friendly and knows you by name and will be happy to share a beverage with ya on the 19th or 10th hole. If you havent been out here come out in give it a shot. I promise ya youll come back!!! Its true you can golf out here without a shirt or in cut off jeans. No judgement here!!! If youre looking for a prestigious golf course with white sand and flowers this isnt your place. If youre looking for a diamond in the rough that will test your skills as a golfer. Maybe a place to bring your buddies and drink a case of beer. Come out to Quail Creek and see what all the buzz is about!!!! Trent

Nice place that could be GREAT Course is always in great shape & the greens are top notch! Ive been playing this course for over 20 years so its always going to be a favorite of mine. That being said, there are some things that havent changed in those 20 years. (Bathroom/Locker Room, Clubhouse & Pro Shop Area, Driving Range) Just wish they would update a few things to make life easier for everyone & it would make them more money! 1. Cash Only: They STILL dont accept Debit/Credit Cards & its 2016! 2. Driving Range: They should add some flags or targets to make the driving range more interesting & fun. There are some old stadium lights on the range that havent worked in YEARS. If they fixed those & had a driving range open at night, that would be HUGE. 3. Too casual: No shirt, No shoes, NO PROBLEM! I like it sometimes but some people push it a little too far! 4. Golf Carts: The last cart I drove had bad brakes & the pedal kept getting stuck & I couldnt get it to release. I spent 1/2 the round messing with the pedal or driving with the brake on. OVERALL: Great course in an even better location! Just needs a few updates but NOT a deal breaker by any means!

I would give this course 5 stars if I was rating just the course. The greens are by far the best in the area. You rarely get an untrue roll. The fairways can be ugly during dry times in July/August. The layout of the course is diverse and challenging. Out of bounds is always to the left, so its a right hander paradise. The par 5s are both unique. The 1st has a blind downhill second shot and the 5th has a blind uphill second shot. The 6th and 7th holes are the stars of this course. They are challenging but fair water holes. The course also has some downsides. The clubhouse is dated. They do not take credit/debit which probably does hinder business. The entrance road is rough as hell but you just need to slow down. Management is laid back-- which is great--but can lead to some issues. Regulars do tend to group into large matches and some will jump out to random holes. Yes, they let people go shirtless, but who really cares? All in all, a good course for decent prices.

Im from Cedar Rapids and I still try to make it down to this course at least once a month because its such a great time. The staff is about the most friendly and knowledgeable you can find and they actually remember my name everytime I come in. As far as the course goes, it is well maintained, fun but challenging. A really laid back type of golf course that will challenge your skills with its many water hazards. My favorite hole is #7 which is a par 3 with a water hazard surrounding half the hole. Will keep playing this course every year because I never have a bad time!!

I thought we were reviewing the course, not the road? This course is great when there is rain. It plays long and can be challenging. Driving range is a joke, dont use it. The greens are the best in the area. Unfortunately, this is considered a white trash course. Owner allows golfers to play with their shirts off, etc. This could easily be the best 9 hole course in the state/region if a new owner took over and give it some TLC. ***They only take cash, so make sure you get some before you get to the rundown club house.

I had a lesson with owner and pro Teddy last night and it was wonderful. Not only did he fix my swing, he provided me with inspiration. He is very passionate about what he does! Quail Creek is a great and welcoming establishment.

The road here is horrible, expect to damage your vehicle getting to this course. Once there you will find it competitive but not as enjoyable as other courses in the area. Bring your 4x4 truck to navigate this road!
