Skye Shoe.

(NOTE: Skip to the bottom for a summary.) The relatively new McHenry recreation center is a much wanted outlet of McHenry County parks and rec. When I was younger, I used to have to drive with my mother to the Woodstock center, as McHenry did not have one at the time. However, from what Ive seen, this new center may have bitten off more then it can chew with its state of the art high - tech equipment... And high prices. I am currently a college student at MCC, working a low - paying job, and cannot afford either the locked 12 month contract that they offer that allows you to visit an unlimited number of times, and with the athleticism I enjoy, cannot use the punch passes. If I were to somehow lose my job within that 12 month time-frame, I would have no way to disengage from the contract. Overall: A beautiful facility, high-tech equipment, friendly staff, high prices, and bad payment plans.

I love this place so far. I signed up before it opened up and I too was thinking it was going to be a little bigger but for the monthly cost I think it is perfect. I live in Mchenry so I dont use the locker room because it only has 2 showers and I just go home to shower. At first I didnt know about any of the machines but when I walked out to the front desk Jason showed me and my mom how to use a lot of the machines and he was very nice. I have not use the daycare part of the facility it looks quite small but the staff in there seems very nice. I overall am very pleased with my experience so far.

Dont believe all of the negative reviews. Was a member at Charter years ago. WAY too crowded due to the low fees. The place was dirty and not well maintained. Moved over to Snap. Nice to be able to work out anytime, 24/7. But, talk about small. The new center is only the beginning folks. Will expand in the future when demand requires it. The staff has been great! Friendly and helpful. The equipment is very good. Have only heard positive comments from other members. Good job McHenry!

The facility has an extensive amount of equipment for its size and also has free classes. The hours are convenient and the staff very helpful. I found it to be very pleasant and clean. It is really a bargain for the price. My only complaint is that the shower area gets hot and steamy when all 3 showers are going.

I showed up the second week on a Sunday afternoon. Its what I expected for a fitness center. Could be bigger but I used to belong to Charter which is also small. This facility is closer to my side of town so its convenient for my needs. Curious how crowded it will become once it really gets going.

Theres a reason why this is a complete failure and the place is a ghost town. Smaller than Charter and Snap, more expensive in general, staff absolutely sucks, and the manager is a completely useless idiot; absolutely clueless. Another failure by the city...

Love this clean and bright fitness center. Lots of choices for cardio machines plus different strength training machines, free weights, and TRX bar. Also, lots of exercise classes are included in the membership price.
