Coming from Virginia and having many wineries in our area, we wanted to visit some in the area since we were visiting Vermont. We were surprised by the wine tasting venue being in a basket shop but it was a very delightful and pleasant experience. The young woman that dealt with us was an amazing personality which created a perfect atmosphere to enjoy the tasting of an assortment of fruit wines. My wife is from Germany and I am retired military and we have been around the world tasting wines, and yet we felt at home at this small town winery tasting. We would welcome this young lady to Virginia to let us show her around our wineries any time she wanted. If anyone walks away from there without a smile, then something is wrong. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience and the wines. Not all of them are our taste, but that is very common in all wineries. Thanks again!

Putney Mountain Winery, is a place that I cannot recommend that anyone patronize. The wine is simply not good. But the biggest reason is the person that claims to be the manager of this establishment, is possibly the most socially inept person I have ever met. This woman does everything she can to offend and run off would be tasters. Why the owners would have such a person representing their business escapes me. It should be known there are several vineyard wineries in Vermont that are worth visiting. Putney Mountain Winery, is not one of them, it’s in the back of a basket store and therefore you don’t get to see the vineyard or how the wine is manufactured. That in and of itself is a big experience when visiting a winery. Don’t waste your vacation visiting this place.

Lots of high quality and unique fruit wines here. If youre looking for a Riesling or Merlot, find another winery. My personal favorites are the rhubarb and blackcurrant wines, as well as the cranberry. Some of the wines are sweet, others bitter. A tasting, which allows you to sample all of their wines, is only $2, but its free if you end up buying a bottle. If youre skeptical about the idea of non-grape wines, the worst case scenario is you waste $2 on a tasting. Most likely youll really like one or many of the wines though and bring a bottle home with you. My girlfriend and I sampled the wines at their tasting booth in Quechee.

I live in California and I have to order this wine on line or have my cousin in Salem,MA get it for me!!!. It is amazing! Delicious over pound cake, ice cream or apples. It is a stand-alone wine as well. I love a glass to sip while reading or at the beach! Highly recommend it, difficult to get it.

We were initially surprised it was located inside the Basketworld. But our host was knowledgeable and sweet. All fruits used are local. And even I (not a sweet wine girl) found a few that I enjoyed! And for a two dollar tasting if nine wines, how could you go wrong?
