Price for a local wine, but well worth it considering best wines in the stores start at $30 and you do not get a taste preview. I think they would be wise to discount the wine tasting to people that buy cases, as people like the perceived value to any purchase these days. The wines are fantastic, and comparable to the best wines in Napa, Sonoma, AUS, and Italy. If you like smoky, smooth silky this is the place to be. Not sure what the person below was referring to when asking for a sweet wine? Italian wine not sweet so perhaps the employee was being too literal. Founding fathers tooled around back in the day in making wines so the N America earth is really good for Euro type wines. Always think about longitude lattitude and similiar geography and also when and how the winemakers craft their wines. Sweet wine liking people like White Zins, Savignon Blans and Gweurtraminers (sorry about spelling) - be specific and your wine adventures would be more pleasant and specific to your needs. I really love this vineyard and definitely feel this is worth money and the trip. The only thing that is unpleasant is that you can only buy the wine at the vineyards and no where else. Good luck all!

After having some more disappointing wine tastings in the area, a group of 4 of us decided to visit this Vineyard. The wine tasting were price 10$ to 20$ for a sample of 3~4 of their wines. First off, the wines themselves are in the 35$ to 55$ range and / but they are superb. For the tasting, each wine sample is paired with cheeses and chocolates from the region. Most or all of their wines are dry and the staff had in depth knowledge of the wines. After the tastings we were able to go out to their back yard, sit in the sun and enjoy a bottle of wine (and cheeses and crackers and jams) from their selection. They had a 3 person band playing relaxing music and we stayed a good 2 or 3 hours just enjoying the vineyard. This place sets the standards for what wine tasting in PA should be like.

Not friendly at all. Paradocx and Ten Gallon Hat were fantastic. Va La on the other hand were snooty and rude. Im very disappointed with their poor customer service. Arrived with 6 couples and were turned away for "being a group" despite having called ahead and discussing with the proprietor. Our ages are in the 40s and 30s so not a group of twenty somethings. We are regular wine drinkers and were surprised not just by being turned away but by the manner in which it was done. We immediately followed our visit by a trip to Paradocx and the contrast was night and day. They were welcoming, gracious, down to earth and have a gorgeous facility with terrific wine. I wish I can comment on Va Las wine but I can assure you I will not be returning.

We visited Va La this weekend and they had, by far, the best wines weve had from the East Coast. At first we were disappointed that the downstairs tasting bar was full, but we were sent upstairs where Doug gave us a one-on-one tasting and answered all of our questions and spent a good deal of time explaining the interesting and delightful history of Va La. He did a wonderful job and made the experience a lot of fun. The tasting room was beautiful and had a stunning view of the vineyard. The wines were paired with delicious local cheeses and breads. It was one of those unexpected moments in life that seems almost magical.

I have been to this winery many times and love everything about it. Among the best Pa wines Ive had. Yes the tasting is pricey but the pours are generous and there is no pressure to buy(altho you will want to). These are delicious and lovingly crafted wines and worth the cost. The owners are friendly and unpretentious and make the tasting fun. A striking contrast to a place like J Maki in Elverson where the price for tasting is the same but you barely get enough wine to taste, youre expected to buy, and the owners are rude and downright nasty. You will not be disapointed at Va La.

I went to Va La Vinyards today for the second time. It was just as wonderful the second time as the first! The wines are awesome!! We enjoyed each one.....not the simple so-so wines of some nearby wineries....but delicious, complex wines worth tasting! And the cheeses and chocolate they pair with the wines are equally as delicious! The knowledgeable and enthusiastic staff make the visit all that much more enjoyable! Ive been to other Chester County wineries but this one stands out....well worth the trip!!

We just went to Va La for the first time yesterday. They have one wine which makes it worth going -- the Mahogany. Id recommend going just to give that one a taste. The staff is largely friendly. One strange thing I encountered is that their piano is off-limits. Ive been playing the piano for 30+ years and that was the first time Id encountered that. :) Apparently its not actually theirs. Regardless, it was a nice stop along our wine trail yesterday.

Well greated by the smell of an open sewer and staff to match..I was told that all we do is dry wines..fitting like the personalities we encountered.$20 each for glass of wine..Well I guess if you have Gold thoughts of that which you sell, but not even close..Fools Gold..only took about 15mins to clease the smell from our noses and our pallet..Paradocx Winery offers so much more for so much less..Horrible Experience..VaLaHaHa

Lovely experience. The mahogany was fantastic. The "white for red lovers" had an surprising difference in taste vs smell. Good, though! The tasting includes cheese pairings for each and a truffle at the end. Very nice!

This is my familys favorite winery in the area. They arent cheap, but the wine is top notch and worth the price. Mahogany and Cedar are amazing.

When my husband asked about their sweet wines, the girl said they only sell Italian wines. Really? This is PA, not Italy.
