Beautiful place! Calm refreshing breath of fresh air. There are no bbq or firepits, you will need to bring your own. No pets allowed and if at all possible do not set yourself near the kayaks or rafts launching base...noisy and very busy with 12 seater coming n going all day long..so much for fresh air! Be careful with your kids there. There are life guards on site. We were there on a Sunday so lifeguards were on site after 11am. The bathrooms are immaculate on seeing that a few years ago it was compost toilets. There are no showers, a bit disappointed, because perhaps most folks would like to rinse off...well at least i may have missed it. There is an area to change though. There is no consession stands either. Be prepared for loud music from some individual picnic site and be prepared for all different types as well. Also be prepared for folks occupying 3 to 4 tables for their families arriving later..a new system needs to be in place to prevent this. Bugs are there to welcome you as well so bring armed forces. You will need to drink all the alcohol at home before coming into this park because the sign clearly states that in english and spanish. The park rangers torments you enough to actually come in your picnic area and can ask to open your coolers. Be warned they do give summons...so drink it all at home. The maintenance staff we friendly and amazing. All i think for me i will be visiting more NY/NJ State Parks from now on. I dont think I appreciate someone stepping on to each and everyones picnic site to look into everyones coolers and basically to scrutinize everthing else. I can understand if there are reports, but never as long as coming there have i seen any disturbances. But this is my last time i think....so long PA youre not the ONLY best place...

I use this area mostly in the off-season (when it is free to park there) as a kayak launching site, or taking out site, and for biking access to the McDade Recreational Trail. The facility is large, with a concession stand and several bathroom buildings. It is also a stop on the Pocono Ponys route so you can park there, put your boat on the Ponys trailer and ride for free to wherever youd like to put-in (great service BTW!). Crowded on summer weekends as you might expect for a beach close to NJ and NYC.

I took a canoe from Smithfield Beach. There is a launch area the local river trip companies use. A little annoying that i had to pay $10 to park here mid-week when there were around 5 cars in the lot. National Park Service should have reduced weekday rates. Was also a little annoying to have to find and fill out a tiny envelope for self-pay. There appeared to be a small beach area where you can go swimming. Overall i wouldnt find this place worth the trip unless you are using it to launch a canoe from.

Wonderful Beach experience in poconos. The best way to reach here is Exit 310 at i-80 Highway. Get out at exit 310, Grab Red bull, Gatorade, Monster,Snacks or even sun screen lotion at Water Gap Convenience store/with Gas Station on your right side..They have the big parking lot. And after loaded with stuffs, turn right into River road at the corner of PA Visitor center...you will be at the Beach..

We entered the beach with a $7 charge. It was completely flooded with people. So, we decided to leave because of the lack of swimming area available. We were there 3 minutes, asked for our $7 charge back and were told no. We felt robbed. However, it is beautiful. If you are looking for something more secluded, dont go here.

After paying a small, nominal fee of 7$ we had use of the facilities -- parking, clean bathrooms, swimming and picnic area. After spending a day on the river canoeing it was the perfect end of the day. The park staff were friendly, and helpful. We visited during a weekday, and it was not crowded at all.

Beach is like 3 feet long and 20 feet wide, and the grass nearby is filled with people playing music on boom boxes. Feels like a beach party in the Bronx. If you like that sort of thing out could be cool, but I had been hoping for a more relaxed experience, so I was disappointed.

We found this little gem while looking for a place to swim in the Delaware River - close to home. A superb find. The swimming is good - plenty of beach to lay out. Ample picnic areas. Space to set up tarps and games. Picnic tables available. Clean bathrooms.

Great Pictures and ground reality do not match. Extremely small beach, infact there is no beach like sand, water was dirty and no fresh water showers.

Probably its my fault, but for me a beach needs sand, theres no sand here. Its basically a place to take the Delaware on kayaking or boating.
