We had our wedding at Great Bear on 5/23/15. They did an awesome job on the food and service. Jamie Maher, the event coordinator, was amazing. She pulled all the details together so I was stress free that day. We got the classic buffet option with the pork tenderloin, beef brisket and chicken. The star was definitely the beef brisket. Everyone raved about it. For apps, we got the brie display. People really loved it and it was gone fast. We also got bacon wrapped scallops and crab cakes as passed hors doeuvres. They were so good. They use Merry Custom Cakes as their cake vendor, she did a feeakin amazing job with the cake. We got a bacon maple cake which was pretty cool. Definitely the tall of the wedding. Overall, we were very happy with our wedding there. Food,open bar and service was great. The packages are priced well too. Highly recommend Great Bear and Jamie Maher (wedding coordinator).

Great Bear is a semi-private golf club. We have a growing membership who are well versed in the game and who pride themselves on adhering to proper golf etiquette and pace of play guidelines. We do welcome public play during non-member times and ask that all public players and groups adhere to the Golf Rules and Regulations, which are posted online and at the club. We regret and apologize if we offended the previous reviewer or any of our guests with requests to adhere to the rules and regulations of the club. Great Bear was under new ownership in 2013 and we intend to maintain the high quality standards of a private club. We look forward to public players experiencing this fantastic Jack Nicklaus signature design course and invite you to consider joining the ranks of many satisfied members at Great Bear. Course was in amazing condition. Greens were every bit as good as the best Country Clubs in the area (Saucon Valley, Lehigh, Woodstone, CC of Scranton). Sand in the bunkers was great. Rough was long and challenging, as it should be. Theres one Par 3 that I think is unfair...if you hit a tiny draw, you might hit a big tree branch. It needs to be trimmed back. Its totally acceptable for a Par 4, but not a Par 3. After-golf food was excellent. Very attentive service, plus I happened to have gone Gluten-Free about 10 weeks ago for health reasons, and the restaurant had many GF options. All in all, Great Bear under new ownership is quite a gem. I will be back soon.

The course is in great shape. The fee was not excessive for the play. However, there are no course maps or yardage books available. This is a mistake by the course as there are at least 3 blind shot holes that if you dont know direction or yardage you will be penalized. Distance markers on the fairway can be difficult to find. Yes I would come back to play again.

Its sad that such a nice course has to be staffed with such lunatics. Played here yesterday for the first time with a foursome. From a confrontational cart boy to an absolute nut of a ranger...Ive never been so offended on a golf course in my life. Treated like absolute scum by these people. Nicholas would be offended by their behavior. Dont play here.

Loved all the staff! They helped make our wedding a memorable one! The food was absolutely phenomenal the chef did a great job! Jaime was great and always available for questions. The day of the wedding Jaime was great and so was Tonya! Thank you!!
