Blake and Abby Bethem have done a fantastic job creating a very comfortable atmosphere as well as innovative cuisine in this locally-owned gem of a restaurant. They have an excellent selection of wines and provide fresh and innovative dishes that provide gourmet with an eclectic (and somewhat Southern) twist. They are reasonably priced and provide knowledgeable and friendly service combined with generous portions compared to many such locations in the DC metro area that serve quality that they do. Certainly the menu speaks for itself, and tastes just as good as it sounds. They are part of the success and beauty of downtown Fredericksburg, and if youre traveling down I-95 and you want to venture just a couple miles away from the highway exits, you will be more than delighted by your experience here.

Pretty little place in the heart of Old Town Freddyburg. Rustic and unique in its decor with rotating works from local artists displayed on the walls. The food is very good, with the occasional disappointment (had the rabbit salad sandwich and it was incredibly salty), but Ive always found the prices to be fair. Has its own little parking lot across the street so theres never an issue trying to park. This is one of our favorite secrets in town and definitely worth checking out . Brunch available on Sundays.

This is what I consider one of the best (if not the best) local restaurant. The atmosphere is intimate but can be noisy at times. The menu has only a few items on it and does not generally change much, although there are daily specials more often than not. All items on the menu are prepared using the finest, locally sourced, high quality ingredients. The portion sizes are appropriate and the taste is out of this world. Do yourself a favor and go!

Hosted a baby shower today for 25 in their private room and it was absolutely beautiful. Aby guided me every step of the way with planning the menu and she got it perfect! Food was superb which is nothing new for them:) Our private party host was very attentive to even the smallest detail. I have enjoyed numerous excellent meals in the main dining room and was not a bit surprised at how well Bistro handled this event. Thank you Aby and Blake!

Went restaurant week. AWEFUL. We walked away still hungry. while service was good, my husbands clams were still sandy, spice in lamb not consistent and a bit on the wrong side of warm. Two small squares of bread does not make a bread basket. The best I can say was the roasted Roman salad was good. The octopus I was given two baby tentacles and about 25 gnocchi was which were delicious. We walked away still hungry.

I own Pennie Rose Massage Therapy in the downtown area. We do Couples Massages quite often. I like to refer our out of town guests there after theyve had a massage if theyre not familiar with the area. My husband and I go there as often as we can. The food is always wonderful and the service is top notch. We have friends over, for special occasions, and take them there. Weve never been served a bad or boring meal.

Excellent wine selections, and I rather enjoyed the food...though menu selections are rather limited, at least on the dinner time menu that we saw in mid-late March. Very nice atmosphere, with a top-shelf server staff. A bit on the pricey side....well probably return, but given the limited menu selection, not sure. At least worth one try for everyone!

Weve been to Bistro Bethem a few times now and have had amazing food and great service each time. Definitely far and away the best restaurant in Fredericksburg. Youll also find that the owner, Aby, will drop by to fill a wine glass or two.

Way too expensive for the quantities of food given. I felt like I had just gotten soaked on the price. The quality is good, not fantastic, but better than most. The price will keep me from coming back, regardless of how good it was.

Fantastic, friendly, and prompt service. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was inviting! It is a little more pricey than some downtown but you defenitely get your moneys worth in my opinion...

Award winning wine list. Amazing appetizers. Im a cheese enthusiast, and the roasted garlic is a delight. Elegant and tasty entrees. Cost slightly more than I would prefer, but definitely worth it.

One of our favorite spots downtown! Great coctails and wine. The meat dishes are where they excel. Recommend the quail, ox tail, the crab stuffed avocado, and any of the beef.

Pretty good food overall. Chewy veal. Great bleu cheese on the appetizer and fabulous grilled cantaloupe. Pork belly was great with salsa verde and arugula.

I ordered a turkey pita a few days ago. The pita was hard, the turkey had chunks of cartilage/grissle in it and it was mostly lettuce. Not impressed.
