Drove down route 100 from waterbury to route 4 in Killington and it was a beautiful drive. We stopped in Granville on national forest road 55 up to 240 and walked around the fields a little bit. The view up there was amazing! We also stopped and walked around the rocks/stream lower down the road. If you are looking for peace and quiet this is a great place to visit.
Very nice campground with lots of room in campsites. This is a campground that looks like the Army Corp of Engineers built it and did a nice job of it. I found the place relaxing. It was well maintained and clean. The only reason for it not being a 5 star was the site we had was not level requiring more work than normal to level the RV.
We visited the Robert Frost interpretive trail near Middlebury. Its short--only about a mile--but takes you through some wonderfully diverse scenery, from swamp to forest to meadow, with thematically-appropriate Frost poems at various points along the way. Its a great use of 30 minutes, especially if youre stretching after a long drive.
Both Green Mountain and Finger Lakes are spectacular in their own unique ways. However, in no way are they are the same park! They are in the same administrative unit, but separated by more than 200 US miles. All that said, if youd like a real camping treat, give Hapgood Pond in Peru, VT a shot. Its simply perfect.
what the what? Did the Finger Lakes move to Vermont? what is going on? I love the Green Mountain National Forest, but Ive giving this a 1 star, because of the odd addition of the Finger Lakes of western New York - where I have never been.
Beautiful hiking trails out in the vermont green mountains. The surrounding towns are cute and quaint with plenty of bed and breakfasts. Two great ski mountains in the area for winter activities too with Mount Snow and Stratton nearby.
Que lugar mas espectacular. Me lo imagino en invierno Centro de ski El paisaje es unico Que bendicion.
Lush green camping ground with lots of space between sites. Only downfall is the help/people at the ranger station. Not super helpful when it comes to exploring the surrounding area.
Took my breath away. Kids were jumping off cliffs or rocks into the most beautiful Crystal clear mountain water. Tons of laughter. Safe. Cool atmosphere. Must see.
Green Mountain National Forest is a great place BUT the Finger Lakes are in New York State some 150 miles west of where it is labeled on the map.
Beautiful place for a getaway to relax. I stayed at winhall brook campground which had all the facilities like restroom, shower accessible.
Very remote, good swimming, lots of great wildlife. Salamanders and red foxes were especially prominent along the back roads and ponds.
Great area, lots to do in the summer, hiking, water sports. The cell service isnt great but there is a ton to keep uou entertained.
One of the most beautiful and peaceful places to visit. Can only imagine the beauty in the fall with the trees in full color.
Hiked the Lye Brooke trail to the waterfall. A bit strenuous for the less active, but totally worth the reward at the end!
This is a awesome national forest park, I would definitely recommend this park, to anyone who is thinking of coming here!
Lovely hiking and great mountain views! Even if you only get a chance to drive through, it will take your breath away.
This was one of our last stops before returning back to Ohio. Absolutely beautiful and endless photo opportunities.

Absolutely stunning views and park the staff is very professional and friendly and extremely knowledgeable
Another wonderful national forest. Plenty of trails, outdoors is always nice, and good signage all around.
Heaven on earth. Pristine environment and jaw dropping views. "Finger lakes" is an upstate New York region.
Good area to sight see but for me only once. The roads are awful and not too much otherwise is there to do.
Its Vermont. Its mountains. Its Vermountains. And trees and birds and other woodland animals.
Molly Stark State Park and the mount Haystack trail are excellent places to hike in this area
