I agree with Joe Hamiltons review. Terrible customer service and mediocre wine. Worst winery experience Ive ever had. I wish I could give zero stars. My husband and I arrived to this ghost town of a winery. There wasnt anyone there, and now we know why. We rang the bell and walked in. No one was in the tasting room. We walked around for a few minutes when finally a woman came through the front door. She mumbled a hello, and we thought she was another customer until she walked behind the counter. We had to ask for a tasting, to which she replied, "Five dollars". We paid, and every time we asked for a wine, shed say, "Which one?" The wine bottles were all over the floor with no rhyme or reason. She couldnt find half of them and even had to pull one off of the shelf. There were fruit flies EVERYWHERE! She acted like we were troubling her with every pour. A tasting? More like a sipping. We barely got a half a taste in our glass. The wine was nothing special. We rushed through the five tastings and ran for the door. My husband and I have been to many vineyards/wineries, and this was by far the worst.

$10 for my wife and me to taste samples of their wines. The white wines looked like apple juice and tasted like the bottles were left open in a hot room for days. The red wines had a brown tint and also tasted like they went bad. The woman who served us poured each sample, stared out the window, didnt say a word about the wines, and mumbled, "What do you want next?" My wife and I ended up dumping every wine we sampled in the bucket without finishing and walked out before we completed our sampling options. I cant believe this winery stays open. I cant imagine anyone would buy it. The wine tastes like a home amateur making wine for the first time. After we left, we went to another winery nearby and saw people who had just left Demarest Hill after we did, and they said to us, "Wasnt that wine really bad?!" There is absolutely no reason to go to Demerest Hill Winery. Complete waste of time and tasting fee money.

If you are looking for a quiet spot this is the place. The wines are not amazing, but not awful. These are old school Italians who own and operate it. They were more than accomodating. The owner was even willing for us to mail him a check for what we wanted since it was cash or check only and we only had credit. Luckily we had a check in the car. Wine is strong like how my great uncle used to make it, Italian style. The balsamic was terrific! Try them all. They use propane air cannons to scare birds away from the crops so if you hear gunshots, thats what it is. It is loud but a very humane way to protect your crops. Overall I was pleased considering the large winery down the road was overpriced and overpacked, and we werent even able to get a glass of wine.

Owner and his wife run the winery and tastings. Francisco, the owner, will serve you whatever he wants to. Think the Soup Nazi of wine. He charges very cheap ("Drink more, pay less") and he has his own (pretty funny-dry) style. He skips the usual BS explanations and he will then let you try anything you ask for. Very nice property, clean and peaceful. It is not the the classic style wine tasting. If you have a sense of humor you will love this place.

If i could rate this place 0 stars I would. The wine was terrible and the customer service was worse. The woman behind the counter argued with my husband about how many tastings we had already completed, never greeted us, and seemed completely inconvenienced by our presence. I have never seen such horrible customer service and would never recommend this place to anybody.

Had their wine and cider at Bounty of the Hudson- delicious! Hoping to visit the winery this week to see why people have been giving it low scores. Lovely old man with unique beverages.

Simply put, avoid this place. Less than desirable wine and terrible customer service. If you accidentally find yourself at this establishment, run!

What comes to mind is "Jack of all trades master of none". Really bad wine. Only highlights are the balsamic vinegar and chocolate grappa.
