I havent seen another place quite like this in the area -- the ice caves are really unique. Theres a well maintained boardwalk through so its pretty easy/accessible. Id like to see it again with the ice! We visited during a peak leaf peeping weekend so it was a busy day in the parking lot -- we had to wait for a spot to open up. Unfortunately, the staff at the parking lot/visitor center do not help matters with their confusing and inconsistent rules and brusque manner. Dont let them turn you away!

The ice caves are only one attraction within the Sams Point Preserve. The hike is doable for beginners, but one has to exercise extra caution. The hike itself, including pictures and the normal walking time would easily be 3 hrs round-trip. The rocks leading down and into the caves are slippery from the streaming water along the walls. The coolness in the caves were a nice reprieve from the physically-tasking hike. Its definitely a unique place to see and worth the time to get to.

Easy hike from the Visitors Center. Not as challenging as they make it out to be. But you do need to exercise caution. You dont want to fall in a hole. It can be dangerous if you arent paying attention. But the climbing is easy for a novice. Easy for kids but again, keep a careful eye on them. No handicap friendly at all. Probably takes 30-45 minutes to walk the little .3 mile loop when you get there. Check out the Visitors Center upon arrival. Great maps and info. Have fun!

Super easy hike to the ice trail. Very well maintained. The trail through the ice caves is somewhat slippery and narrow in places but is exceptionally well marked and there are hand rails in most places where you need them. The caves are cool but you dont need any cold weather gear. Good footwear and water are all that you really need.

These things were so refreshing in the summer heat. I want to go back when they truly are frozen. A great break from the city, and a fun hike. Youll feel like Indiana Jones in the Temple of Doom, but with way less doom!

Amazing!!! Wear appropriate shoes and bring plenty of water and a full battery on your phone so you can take thousands of pictures. A must adventure to do make sure you can spend the whole day there.

Very fun and adventurous! Felt like a girl scout. Not your ordinary park. Youll feel entertained for a good 3 hours. Its worth the drive there. Wear comfortable clothing and bring water.

Worth it. This is a great easy out door hiking experience. Nothing that is challenging you can do this with kids. Bring a backpack with water and snacks.

Ice caves are a fantastic hike. They are closed during winter months, due to-- shocker-- ice. Make it there during the warm months for a memorable hike!

Perfect place for hiking! The view from mountains is breathing and if you go there in Summer, the ice caves work like a natural AC and cool you down :)

Indiana Jones style hiking, planks, Bridges and ladders guide you through the caves. Unexpectedly cool.

Nice, but short trail if one is doing only the ice caves. The rest of the park is amazing.
