Cant imagine what the last reviewer experienced -seems like a very unfair review. My experience as a seasons ticket holder with six others for the last four years is completly favorable. The theater is well-appointed and intimate;the box office and all staff are extremely courteous and helpful. I have never been disappointed at the high-caliber of talent and production values of the shows. It truly is better than Broadway in some ways since it is so affordable and convenient for Long Islanders. A plus is the dining venues available in quaint Northport village and the ample valet and street parking. As far as the snide remarks about audience members being over 55 -seniors are the lifeblood of local theater. At weekend performances, the ages of the audience is varied. Besides why this age discrimination -should the age of the audience make for a very negative review? Obviously, the reviewer is under 55 and was having a VERY bad day. Sorry for her -most people have had very enjoyable experiences at this local treasure.

Re "1776": Quite possibly the finest production Ive ever witnessed of this venerable musical/play (I mean, theres a solid 30-minute block of narrative exposition), including the recent Bway & off-Bway revivals. Acquittals all around for a superb-beyond-all-reason cast, from John Adams to the freakin Congressional custodian. Particular salutes to Matthew Romanelli, who stops the show cold with his white-hot "Momma, Look Sharp." The sets & costumes, the direction of stage, set, & music -- all are top-notch. I was blown away.

Absolutely amazing experience. we saw The Producers, and the production was every bit as good as Broadway. Brilliant use of a small stage particularly with the dance routines. Great acoustics, too. The seats were comfortable and there was good leg room. And where else can you get second row center seats for $68? Lovely bar area as well. Another nice treat is that the cast exits right through the lobby and their very accessible. Highly recommended!.

I am a theatre buff, went to Broadway shows about once a month for many years, but now that Ive been to Engeman, I dont have to go! Great shows, professionally done, and near home. Im saving a fortune by not going to NYC as often as I used to! Such a pleasure to be home in 20 minutes after a show! The piano bar is just fabulous, Kevin and Rich are super bartender! Thanks to all!

We love going to Broadway shows and a nice dinner, but never enjoy the commute from the Island. When we discovered this gem a few years back, we decided to buy a season membership and havent looked back since. Its located in a quaint New England, Northeast village with great dining and beautiful water views. Oh, and yes, the talent and shows are top notch as well!

Engeman Theater is one of the reasons we feel so lucky to live here. Thrilled to be a season ticket holder! They are so accomodating with switching ticket dates when the need arises. Being able to see Broadway performances so close to home is priceless. Piano bar and valet parking are added perks. Always a great night out and a great show!

I love this theater, I see shows as often as possible. I used to be a season ticket holder when the engeman first opened, but it has gotten too expensive for me. Certainly, amazing shows much cheaper than New York City, but I still cant afford $75 per ticket. But the shows are fabulous, loved Christine Pedi tonight!

Community theater is better than this place! Expensive tickets and drinks. SMALL THEATER. Very rude and unprofessional box office manager. They scheme to get you to pay for the whole season of shows. This place must have senior citizen discounts every day because there is no one there under 55 besides the staff.

Wow these guys are really doin it over there. Exceptional service and the play was fantastic. Those valets were hilarious (as well as good looking). The bartenders were very friendly and the specials were modelo cheladas for $2 (what a steal). Its all the fun of broadway without the hustle and bustle of nyc.

This was our first experience at the local theater and the kids loved it. The production was reminiscent of Broadway but on a much smaller scale. The theater had plenty of comfortable seats that allowed a good view of the stage from all angles. I will definitely be back.

My sister and I have been coming to the Engeman since it opened and the productions have been top notch consistently. We go into the city for plsys, often, and Engemans shows are a match for them. Add in Rich as a bartendar and its a perfect evening.

Beautifully reconstructed on the interior. Plenty of room with great visibility from all sections of the theater. Excellent selection of shows, and testing of talent that tests the need to travel all the way into Manhattan!
