*no option for zero stars! this place is an armpit. do not take a lady or kids here. I went here for lunch mid january 2013. They used a cleaner in the bathroom that was so strong I could taste it. I then went back to the bar to wait for my lunch and told the barmaid Robin about the situation in the bathroom. Robin responded with a snooty attitude "well go piss outside, I dont clean bathrooms." I replied "well excuse me, you work here so Im telling you, maybe you can tell a manager. I can still taste whatever cleaner was in there." Then Im sitting there thinking, "Why should I pay for this lunch when I cannot enjoy it with this taste in my mouth and this 40+ year old hag is giving me attitude?" I decided to walk out and told the hostess that I was leaving and why. She just smiled, I mean a BIG smile. How odd? Then the barmaid was walking out with my food. I told her to throw it away and being one to speak my mind I said things to her you should not say to a lady (which she is not). Luckilly I did not spend a dime that day. Ive worked in restaurants for over a decade, and this attitude is unnaceptable. In the future Ill go to La Caretta to get my mexi fix. **I could still taste the cleaner in my mouth two hours later after brushing my teeth and using mouthwash.** *41 reviews with 1.5 stars. Hmm ya think ya doing something wrong people? *Barmaid Robin with teenibopper snooty attitude. *Barmaid Robin told me "go piss outside. I dont clean bathrooms". *Barmaid Robin with an "I dont care, its not my job, I have no consequences for my actions" attitude. *Hostess showed no sympathy and did not care, but beyond this, she thought it was funny. *Bathroom smelled like a toxic bomb went off. *Salsa tasted like pasta sauce. Chips were stale.

Seriously the worst "Mexican" food I have ever eaten... maybe the worst food I have ever eaten. I ordered a "burrito" which consisted of about a pound of ground beef in a tortilla with really dry, bland rice on the side. Gross. The look of it grossed me out so much I made me boyfriend trade with me. He ordered an enchilada combo, one chicken and one steak. While this was at least edible, which my dish was not, it was far from enjoyable. The chicken was so dry and bland I nicknamed it the "desert enchilada." The only redeeming quality of this meal was the salsa and chips served before the meal. They were actually delicious. Too bad the meal was so incredibly horrendous that even this ray of light could do nothing to change my opinion of the restaurant. The waitstaff was rude. The prices were insanely high for the quality of the food. Bottom line, I wouldnt return EVER unless under new ownership.

Disgusting. Waited 5 minutes to be seated because the waiter/ host was at the bar watching the sports game. The food was mediocre at best. I ordered the enchilada and burrito combo. When it came out, I couldnt even tell which was witch. They were both soggy piles of tortillas with mounds of cheese microwaved on top and a sauce that tasted like marinara sauce. It came with fried beans which tasted like it was from a can and watery sour cream. Our waiter never checked in on us. We had to go to the host station and wait to pay and we saw him sitting at the bar once again watching tv. He finally came over, ran our cards and didnt even wait for us to sign the reciepts, he walked back to the bar and we had to leave the receipts on the counter. This place has the worst service, "food" if youd call it that, and all around atmosphere. I felt like I threw my money in the toilet. Do not eat here.

the margaritas are tasty & are authentic but the foods lousy. I had a craving for avocado. Just about every mexican rest. Ive eaten at offered some kind of fresh guac either alongside an entree, as an app or at least a side. Ive never tasted green mush before going to La Hacienda. It was so overprocessed that you couldnt tell there was any actual avocado in the dish (which was 85% avocado & cheap iceberg lettuce!) Its a shame b/c the decor is simple, yet festive. Our server was prompt, friendly accomodating. The one (other Mexican rest) down the road was over-packed, 40 min wait, lines of people waiting & smoking outside, you know the routine;) and I dont know what the reviewer raving about a new chef is about. Frankly if you claim to be a mexican restaurant- you NEED to have dible guacamole, hands down. Unless you are a college cafeteria serving guacamole surprise

Did not have either beers we wanted to order, they claim to be getting rid of most of their beers, you would think theybwould change the menu when they remove something but apprantly not. We didnt receive drinks until about 20 minutes after arriving. They were also out of dressing so the salad was nothing but a plate of lettuce. When I ordered I specifically asked for no sauce, our waitress repeated this to me so she knew what I wanted. When I got my order, there was sauce. When I brought this up she tells me she didnt know I didnt want sauce so I was given the wrong order and blatantly lied to. I asked to speak with a manager, who comped out meals but still made us pay for the drinks that were even what we wanted. Very poor service, extremely disappointed. I work in the food service and slwaysbtrybto keep an open mind when dissatisfied but this was pathetic.

We have been to La Hacienda Del Rio twice, both times for our anniversary - 5/16/2011 and 5/16/2013. Both times we had the same waitress and received exceptional service and amazingly delicious food. I used to get great (I would give 5 stars) Mexican food at Don Emilios in WV, but, sadly, they closed soon after I moved away. The Mexican food I had for 10 years on Cape Cod (Sam Diegos) would probably get 3.5-4 stars out of 5 - above average for sure, but nothing exceptional. Now that Im in Nashua, I found La Hacienda and would definitely give them 5 stars. We were impressed with the service - speed and attentiveness, the atmosphere was comfortable with appropriate music, decorations, cleanliness, and lighting, the quality and quantity of the food was perfect, and the price was reasonable. We will be going again - hopefully soon!

The majority of the time La Hacienda is amazing... but there have been a few times when it is definitely not. This is due to a few factors: waitstaff and chefs. Most of the waitstaff are wonderful, but weve had a few instances where the service was downright horrible. I dont attribute this to the restaurant itself - it was a couple of particular people whom I havent seen of late (fired perhaps?). The food is normally WONDERFUL, but like the waitstaff incidents, there have been several times when the food was simply not up to par. Im hoping this was just due to a change in chefs. I havent been to La Hacienda in a while, so Id like to go soon and see how it is. Ill update this review in the future. Overall, I definitely recommend La Hacienda Del Rio as a superb Mexican restaurant.
