My wife and I have visited the Acron Grille on several occasions prior to our last visit and received wonderful meals and service. Although, sadly, our last visit is one that I wont soon forget. Our children and seven grandchildren were visiting after Thanksgiving this year. My wife and I decided to treat our children to a night out without the young grandchildren--a nice quiet dinner with our children and their spouses. We hired two baby sitters for our seven grandchildren (oldest is four years) and went to Acron Grille for our special night out. We were seated at a round table next to the additional dining area room where there was another family dinner of about 20 people with young children. Many of the children were crying, turning the lights on/off, disturbing other restaurant patrons as well, and the adults were talking loudly so they could be heard over the dull roar. Our waitress was fantastic but you could sense her exasperation over the situation that was out of her control. She did her best but the doors to the room could not close due to the table arrangements in that particular room. I attempted to talk to the manager but he was out of the restaurant for a period of time while we were there. In conclusion, what makes a great a memorable dinner with family and friends? Great food--wonderful service--fantastic atmosphere. Sadly, the Acron Grille only performed two of the three that evening.

I was at Thousand Oaks this week for a golf outing for work. I was VERY impressed with the staff and their level of customer service. In fact, when lunches were brought around, I mentioned that I was a vegetarian... but I didnt ask for any special accommodations and I was completely fine with what was offered. But the young man delivering lunches went back to the clubhouse, and brought me back a special vegetarian wrap. It was SO thoughtful and so above and beyond anything I had expected. Not to mention, it was the BEST veggie wrap I have EVER had. My golf partner was quite jealous and ate some of it too. The rest of the day was just as enjoyable. The course was in beautiful shape and was challenging and exciting to play. The dinner afterward was great as well. I would be thrilled to return to this course.

Play was so jammed that even after the group in front of us quit in frustration we were only able to play 6 holes before dark. No pace of play management. Staff confirmed that it was a big problem. Club acknowledged that they had permitted significant and uncontrolled pace of play issues but refused to offer refund. Obviously we would not have started if they had been honest about what was going on. This course itself has deteriorated significantly since it was built. Numerous maintenance and aesthetic issues throughout in addition to irresponsible starting policies and non-existent pace of play practices. For many reasons this can no longer be considered even a premium course. Many places nearby offer better golf, better management, and better value.

Never been to the Golf Course portion of this place, but their restaurant The Acorn Grille has a FABULOUS Thanksgiving buffet! I drove down to GR last week and went here with a coupld friends....for $18.95 it was all-you-can-eat turkey, ham, roast pork loin, stuffing, pasta, green bean casserole, corn, scalloped potatoes, rolls, hot cocoa bar, and a dessert table to DIE FOR!!! We ended up being a bit underdressed for the place, after all this is a country club restaurant so expect fancy clothes and lots of rich folks. But we still had an absolutely delicious meal, and would definitely return again!!!

Would definitely not recommend this place to anyone. Fairways were in pretty shoddy shape, had bare spots, and the greens were something to be desired. For the $$ you pay for this place it isnt worth it. there is much better coureses in the area for much less $$ and actually appreciate your business. Was told had to pick up the pace after the 3rd hole, the GPS in the cart said we were 2 minutes behind pace. Give me a fricking break. Then we had to wait for the people in front of us on the last couple of holes, wont be back and wont recommend to anyone. Way too overrated, overpriced for what it is.

Very disappointed! Ive been wanting to play this course for over three years now since Ive moved to Grand Rapids and boy do the pictures look nothing like how the course actually is. The pictures on there website make everything look so manicured and dont look anything like the real shape its in. I would only recommend this course if it were half the price. There are much better courses around for a much better price. Spend your money elsewhere.

This golf course was like non other that Ive been on. It was an open beautifully taken care of course that cannot be beat! I could not believe how good it looked and its only the beginning of the season!
