My familys favorite destination for an evening walk. The childrens playground is great with many wonderful slides, swings and playsets. But pleasure bay is quite a sight to behold especially on days when there are wind surfer flying through the bay. In the evening, the sunset view from here is impressive as well. I can only imagine the sunrise must be spectacular from here. Sullivan, the clam shack offers wonderful clam baskets at very affordable prices and ice cream treats and hot dogs. Fort Independence itself offers quite a sight. I also love the many sailboats docked around the area. Theyre always a welcome sight. It is also great for a family picnic as well.

Had a wonderful view of the departing Tall Ships on 6/22...and visited park on opening day of Sullivans. Sorry to say both times the toilet facilities were not open. Although alternative port-a-potties were provided, not too nice if this is an ongoing solution! We had a very elderly "Sullivans " fan with us on opening day...in a wheelchair...so facilities were "difficult" to say the least! Glad we didnt bring her to see the ships! Wondering if you can tell us if toilets are or will be available this Summer. Would like to take our mother back! (PS she is 103!)

This is my second favorite park in Boston after Boston Garden. Not only is the castle open regularly for tours and for holidays like Halloween (great for kids) but there is a track that goes around the whole area (about 2 miles around). This makes it great for going on a family walk or for going for a run. Additionally, there is a beach that has made leaps and bounds in the last few years to become an easy go-to when you dont have the time to travel down to the Cape, etc. You will also find free parking and Sullivans which has great hot dogs and iced coffee.

From relaxing on Pleasure Bay beach and watching the bustle of water/sky traffic by Fort Independence, to exploring the hill and walking along the causeway strip that takes you around the bay - Castle Island was a fantastic time! Very lively but not overwhelming. As much as I think it would be nice to see more places (food places and maybe a small gift shop) around, the simplicity of the island, with just Sullivans, seems very fitting too. What a wonderful place to spend a Sunday! Hope to come back for another day trip before the summer ends.

Castle Island is an amazing place right outside of Boston! It is located in i think South Boston. There is a park, a walking area, the Castle, the beach and then Sullivans, where they make great meals to eat when visiting Castle Island. It is usually peaceful there when listening to the ocean breeze and watching the airplanes fly over your head as they land at Bostons Logan Airport across Boston Harbor in East Boston. In conclusion, Castle Island is a great place and would recommend it to anyone who lives near it or is visiting Boston.

A lovely park to take a walk and enjoy the sun. Its quite a popular area so there are usually plenty of people around. There is a parking lot but it does get full at peak times during the summer, you might have to park farther away. Theres a playground for kids and a small shop for food and ice cream. The castle itself is something nice to check out and take pictures of. The surrounding water around the castle is beautiful. You can take a walk around the castle to see the entire island and its around a 15 minute walk.

Great areas for picnics, running, biking, fishing, walking, kite-surfing, swimming, sun bathing, people watching, airplane watching, and boat watching, etc. Landscaping is well kept and I feel safe to get my morning run in as its wide open with other runners and walkers alike. Plenty of free parking and a great place to watch the USS constitution sail by on 4th of July or capture a beautiful sunset around Pleasure Bay. And of course end off your favorite activity at Sullivans for a hot dog and ice cream.

Lovely views of the skyline and ocean. It was very difficult to find parking because we went in the afternoon on Labor Day. But we did find a parking spot and it was free of charge. Lots of room to walk around, picnic, take pictures. Theres also a few different small beach spots. Lots of people with dogs and children. We would definitely come back again of a non-holiday week day. Also, Sullivans, the only good place, was pretty good: decent prices and quality with fast moving line.

This is one of my favorite places to spend a few hours on a nice summer day. Jog or walk the loop and then cool off on the beach! Lay out in the sun or grab a bite to eat at the iconic Sullivans. And the castle itself is pretty interesting too. Go on the tour if you want to explore it and learn more about its history. Castle Island offers a nice view of downtown Boston and its kind of neat to see the planes flying into Logan directly above you.

I have been going here for as long as I can remember. My family goes here whenever the weather is nice. There is a nice place to get food (although a bit pricey the food is really good). And there is a park for the kids. There are two swimming spots but the water is from the harbor so it may not be the cleanest. I love it here. And I love taking walks around and inside the castle. If you have kids and have a day off spend it at castle island.

Great place for a day trip with the family. Came here with my grandmother, uncles, aunts, cousins, my father and my own family. It was a great place for the kids to either play or swim.. Lots of rocks to skip on the first beach. However there was a lot of glass in the sand (reason for 4 stars not 5). I do love this place and visit whenever Im in the area. You can bring your own food or buy some at Sullivans. Both are great options!

I love Castle Island. Ive been coming here since my Nana and Pa brought me here as a kid with their dog, Gracie. Such beautiful views all around. I love watching the planes coming in for a landing at Logan. So many places to just lounge on the grass and enjoy the view and people-watch. And, if you play Pokemon Go, there are a TON of stops and a TON of Magikarp (I caught about 30 in 3 hours and my fiance got to evolve his first one).

This is the best place on Boston Harbor with great beaches, free parking, historical fort and walking trails and to top it off it has Sullivans restaraunt with fabulous food and ice cream and prices right for your pocketbook! Also a great close up view of the planes coming into Loan Airport and again its all free! Boat rentals, childrens playground and some of the best dogs out walking with their owners

Its a nice historic site in Boston that is now a popular park, broadly visited. It has a sea view towards several of the Boston harbor islands, a small bay/beach, a kids playground, a small snacks to-go restaurant (Sullvans), fishing area among other amenities. All of them around Fort Independence. The restrooms have a big improvement chance. Free parking is a plus! 4.5*s!
