Sometimes everything just come together for a place. I would have to say Maison is one of those places, for a variety of reasons. Lets start with the food. Although they dont have a full scale kitchen they still serve food as if they do. I got slow cooked ribs with mashed potatoes and greens. They were fantastic. They have a diverse menu serving appetizers and entrees like you would expect in one of your favorite restaurants. Aside form the Wings and Fries there is nothin on the menu that even resembles bar food. The atmosphere is a combination of restaurant and lounge. The have a stage in front for live music acts. The tables for the restaurnat are candle lit. And in the back fo the first floor they have couches for those that like to be as comfortable as possible while having a few drinks. The second floor has pool tables for those that like to be a little more active at the bar. The thing that I think really stands out about this place is the way they combine old and new. During weekday dinner hours they have live jazz or brass blands playing, for a little flavor of old New Orleans. But on weekends the upstairs penthouse opens up for live DJs and dancing, for those who prefer their music a little more modern. Also where as New Orleans isnt necessarily known for embrassing technology, Maison has an up to date website, actively participates in social media, and has a farily large social media following (are we sure this is a New Orleans bar). There are other cool things about the place but I will leave it up to anyone reading this review to explore and come to their own conclusions. If you are looking for things to do in New Orleans I would have to say this is a must see place especially if you are in the Frenchmen area. Tip: Take a look at the drink menu. They have some great specialy cocktails from Martinis to New Orleans themed drinks.

I stopped outside Maison and walked in because the music was *so* good. I ordered one beer and kept my tab open. Staff was friendly and personable at this time. After an hour or so, I ordered one shot and asked to close my tab. One of the bartenders swapped my card for another guests. My tab should have been ten- maybe twelve dollars for the beer and the shot. I was charged $60. I called my bank and had to suspend my debit card and have to wait at least a week for my claim to go through. I also have to obtain cash from my bank and forfeit my card until I get home because of a bartenders mistake. It is my first day of vacation here.... I wouldnt have written this review, but was compelled to write this because one of the bartenders was laughing to my face about my misfortune. I work at a bar in my city as well- was just willing to let it go until I was treated as if I was overserved and an idiot. In my years traveling around the world and working in th Chicago restaurant industry Ive never felt so dismissed in my life. I really wanted to love this place until I was treated like garbage for their mistake. Gutted for being shamed for no reason.

This place was recommended by our tour guide as a place more "local" than the usual places on Bourbon St, etc. We had dinner and stayed for the music. We had stopped by the night before to make reservations. When we arrived, they had saved us a great table (our name on the table) because they felt they had let us down by not being able to accommodate us the first night. The food was very good (portions of pasta were tremendous) and the service was great (for the type place it is). In other words, the waitress wasnt as available as if it were just a restaurant, but if you arent in a hurry and are there to enjoy the music and atmosphere, then the service was great. The music is really why we came and no one was disappointed. Great Jazz that made me wonder why I dont try to do this more often. Go if you can. Get there early if you want a table. Ask in advance if you want to stay past 10 when it becomes more of a night club and less of a restaurant (some tables are removed).

Spent a good four hours here. Walked by, having not visited this end of the French Quarter before, and decided to stop in for one drink. What started as one ended in 5 or 6 and dinner to boot. The waitress, Melody, checked on our table every 10 minutes or so and yet was not intrusive, which is a balance I rarely find. The food was a little expensive for my taste but well within the standard pricing of the French Quarter, and the Jambalaya was surprisingly tasty, as was the gumbo. The Gator bites were interesting and tasted good, although mine had cold spots - not heated through. The cocktails were excellent but pricey at $9 a pop with the beer costing $5 a pint. The music was fantastic and upbeat with a selection of newer and older jazz, which had everyone clapping and nodding along. Definitely worth a stop even if it seems quiet - only one table when we went in at 6pm, but standing room only when we left!

With so many music venues to choose from, it can be confusing without personal recommendations. Even so, we put a list together and, since were visiting with our boys, one of whom is 18, we limited our search to places that welcome families. Lucky for us, The Maison is one of those places and the evening was a terrific success. Wednesday night, we saw The New Orleans Jazz Vipers perform two sets. They were fantastic as were the two dancers who performed during the second set, (while other patrons danced along as well). Not clear if the dancers were hired or not but either way, it made for a very enjoyable evening. If you choose to have dinner there, be aware this is typical pub fare, on the greasy side, not particularly indicative of New Orleans cuisine. Service was very good however, even as the place filled up. Highly recommend but would choose to eat elsewhere if possible.

I cant say enough great things about The Maison! We booked this venue for 35 people for our lunch reception after our wedding. Every part of our experience with The Maison not only met but exceeded our expectations. Jen was amazing to work with and did everything she could to make things perfect. The upstairs was set up beautifully, the food was phenomenal, and the service was top notch. We also loved the fact that there was a fabulous band playing that we were able to enjoy. Our area was private enough for us to enjoy our guests but not so private that we felt left out of the fun atmosphere from the band downstairs. Everyone in our party was so happy with everything about the reception. I would definitely recommend this venue for a private event!
