We used the African American Museum for our June 2010 wedding. We had a lot of trouble finding a space in town for our projected numbers (around 170), and Celebration Hall was a wonderful choice. The room is big and recently renovated, and they allow you to bring in your own catering or food, which means that you have a ton of options for a very personal wedding. Its on the river, your guests can have access to the museum. Ed and the art museum staff could not have been more helpful. We would highly recommend this space to anyone in Cedar Rapids looking to have a wedding outside of a hotel. Our wedding turned out to have about 85 people, but the space still felt really intimate.

Great place, exhibits laid out nicely. Great for the family or for a date, to learn about African American History. Please visit when you have time. Other reviews said they were bored at the Museum, dont believe them, if you pay attention and read you will have a tremendous time.

Nice little museum with some interactive exhibits. Get your picture taken via green screen. Definitely educational. You are encouraged to donate (I did) but you do not have to.
