Chicago Bar Bracket
For what Quenchers Saloon is theres nothing else to say but that they nailed it. A classic dive bar with great service, a huge beer list and bartenders who know how to recommend a good brew. Ive drove past Quenchers several times and its divey curbside appeal always made me leave a mental note to check it out. When I first arrived there was barely anyone in the bar, which threw me off especially since they had very little furniture in the front room. However I quickly got comfortable after pulling up to the bar and was instantly immersed in the nostalgia on the wall and stories from the bartender (ask for Uncle Ray if you go - hes been there 28 years and knows whats up). As the bar filled up it started to feel even more relaxed and I probably could have stayed there all night if my drinking buddy didnt need to be hangover free on Saturday morning. This is definitely a place I want to come back to, especially for their food. I saw some loaded tater tots coming out of the kitchen that looked heavenly. Seriously. I never thought I would use the word "heavenly" to describe tater tots, but thats how they looked. Golden brown with a cloud of sour cream. To sum up, the service was great, the beer menu was plentiful, and the beer was cold. The bar also had a small concert venue and a patio that we didnt make it to (but hope to in the future). My only regret is that in my bracket to find the best bar in Chicago - "The Chicago Bar Bracket" - Quenchers was narrowly defeated mostly because its appeal seems limited to night time (but not necessarily late night) due to its setup. Definitely a place Id recommend and plan on having a return visit.

Really great bar. Good beers and specials. Only thing that pissed me off was a recent experience with cups of water...my friend and I were leaving the bar and grabbed a cup of water from their water jug. She went to pee and got more water and the bouncer came outside and reprimanded us for "bringing drinks" outside...water...apparently taking water in a cup outside the bar isnt acceptable. because, you know, water... Anyway, good bar, but that was an annoying experience because being reprimanded for drinking water outside while being a paying customer is pretty dumb.

Came here for a show my friend was performing in. (the band name is strangers) There was a $5 cover which isnt too bad especially since there were 3 other bands playing that night as well so it was only $1.25 a band. I didnt get any drinks since I was just there for the one show but they did have a cooler of self service water which was awesome since I always feel bad wasting the bar tenders time on a busy night asking for water.

Ok have you been looking for a place where everyone knows your name? Where an awesome bartender can really recommend a good beer then remember you the next time you visit? This would be the place..... The cool thing about it - is that its actually a respectful spot for world beers.. just check out the chalkboard above the bar and pick a favorite.. of course I would recommend Pilsen or Crystal :) from Peru and if you are lucky

Friendly neighborhood bar that serves some food. Been going here for years and years. A massive variety of beers kept very cold. The people who go to this bar are typically laid back and there is a variety of different ages and backgrounds of the people who go here which I like. Late at night there are bands which tend to be hit or miss. I have seen some surprisingly excellent bands here. This is a great hangout bar.

This is one of my favorite bars in the city. They have a wide variety of beers to choose from (most from around the world!) and the nights that they do have cheap cans are great. Many of my friends go here for open mic night (which I thoroughly enjoy). Quenchers has a friendly atmosphere and its a great place to meet up with friends, have a drink, and even grab a bite to eat.

Quenchers is a good all-around bar. Very excellent beer selection, and a nice venue for rock music. Some have commented on rude bartenders, but I myself have never experienced bad service. The location is also nice -- convenient from everywhere. The beers can be a touch expensive, and the bar can be crowded. But Ive never had a bad experience here overall.

A great dive with a great beer menu & pretty good pizza too. Tip: 1 Tuesday a month the band Soundtrack Serenade play a different movie soundtrack (with the movie playing silently in the background)...and the lead singer is pretty awesome. In the past theyre played: Big Chill, The Wedding Singer, Goodfellas...and next up is Pulp Fiction

Went to see a friend play here. It has a separate room for bands, seating, etc... It was cold outside, but it looked like they might have outside seating in better weather. It was a bit of a dive, but what youd expect from a bar in that neighborhood. The beer selection was limited and the service wasnt anything special.

Quenchers is awesome. I live a few blocks away from it and I rgeret not going often enough. They have a huge selection of beer, and the best part is that bartenders can give really good recommendations depending on what you like. The free popcorn is the best.

Great selection of beer. Love the tater tots on all foods idea lol. Their sound guy is extremely unprofessional. Hear nothing but complaints about him. But, other than that, very nice place to chill and listen to local live music!!!

One of the first micro brew places in Chicago. They have been doing it since the mid 90s. Awesome old school vibe with the wooden coolers and taps. Also their beer style months like stout month are one of a kind.

Great bar, great beers, great music, great staff and a great atmosphere. If you are from out of town and you like good beer, Quenchers should be high on your list of bars to spend time at.

Amazing beer selection. January is stout month! Head over every day for new stouts. Live shows, but no cover if youre just hanging out at the bar as far as I could tell.

Very knowledgeable bar staff, with tons of beer options to choose from. They dont do cocktail drinks and its cash only, so prepare for that. Great place regardless!

Cool little hang-out spot for warmer months. I prefer sitting out in the beer garden since it can get super loud inside. Fantastic beer list, great bartenders.

Great bar with live music in the back room. Their beer selection is fantastic. It is ***Cash Only***, so dont forget to stop at the ATM.

If I lived closer this would be my watering hole for sure. On any given night you might find a band you think is kinda cool.
