My first (and last) dining experience here was miserable. I kept asking the server to notify a manager that I was not comfortable because a large vent, blowing cold air, was directly under my chair and I could also feel the breeze from one under the chair to the left of me. Others at the table felt the cold breeze and we all placed menus under the chairs, over the vents, but this did not help. After many requests asking management to rectify the situation a woman came over and placed a pile of linen napkins on the floor and said that should work. I told her it was not working and I kept asking her to put her hand under my chair and feel the high flowing, cool breeze. Needless to say, none of the staff cared enough to either turn the blower down or turn our table in another direction where no diners chair would sit directlty over an air vent. They more or less acted like I was bothering THEM when THEY were the ones making me feel cold and uncomfortable and ruining my dining experience. We also observed food preparers on the deck not wearing gloves and placing cooking tools in the their back pockets which seemed very unsanitary. I sure hope they washed the pile of linen napkins that they tossed on the floor to cover the vents. Just sayin!

My husband and I had a $20 coupon we received for Christmas through the Dover Post. We went for a nice Sunday lunch. I ordered the Sesame Ahi Tuna appetizer as well as the French Onion and Mushroom Soup. The Ahi Tuna appetizer was definitely enough for an entree. (I took majority of it home)It was delicious as well as the seaweed salad that came with it. The French Onion Mushroom soup was also tasty. My husband has the "Not your typical Reuben". The corn beef was sliced very thick, was was a nice change for your usual Reuben. The sour kraut was a little spicy, but very good. The food was great, worth the ride to Middletown. The only downside was our waitress wasnt too attentive. My husband asked for ketchup for his fries(which said they were vinegar fries, and were not) she never got him the ketchup, I had to get up and get some off another table. She never asked if I needed a refill and walked passed us a couple of times before my husband had to ask for boxes and the bill. She sounded sick, so maybe she wasnt on her game, which is understandable. Also there was an football game on and some of the patrons at the bar were loud. I would come back and would recommend to others.

Partner and I played the course today. FOr a public course, very well maintained. Plethora of sand traps but fairways wide enough to avoid many bunkers. The negatives: management needs to be improved. Made online reservation with credit card. Called two days ago to cancel one player and had no record of my reservation, even though I received an e-mail confirming the reservation. Person wrote me in for 10:26 am. We arrived five minutes before tee time because of poor signage, difficult to find. When we arrived at the desk, person said there was no record of my reservation. They squeezed us in between groups of four and it took more than five hours to play. Despite this ineptness, Ill return because course was really nice.

I didnt see an option to review Back Creek Grill - the restaurant. I assume that this Google Place Page is for both the golf course and the restaurant. I have heard of inconsistency here but I havent really experienced it. The Prime Rib special night is good, I like the grilled veggies and the cedar plank salmon. We had shrimp lejune recently which was very very good. The atmosphere is great, the staff is nice, the cook is really picky and doesnt let you make "changes". If I could change that, Id like to customize the order more.

Make sure you call before you head in. These guys will over book any chance they get. As they were telling folks theyre out of golf carts, they were booking golfers that were walking in. Just played 9 holes and it took 3 hours. Decent course, just mis-managed. From the pro shop to the Ranger.

The idiot that gave it 1 star gave every other golf course in the area 1 star, except for Patriots Glen, which has been basically bankrupt and in horrid condition. Back Creek was written up as one of the Top 5 Golf Courses in Delaware by Golf Magazine in 2010.

I play this course two or three times a month and it is always in excellent shape. The staff is usually friendly but everybody has a bad day. This is a family friendly club that offers a variety...social, golfing and eating. The golf is the best part though.

Almost always in perfect shape. Greens are FANTASTIC! Nice rustic layout. Even though this course wraps through some nice middle class neighborhoods, the homes arent ever on top of you. If you make it to Middletown, this is a must play.

Quiet retreat from nearby Middletown sprawl. Friendly staff and reasonable rates. Excellent food and service in the charmingly rustic bar and grill. General public is always welcome here.

Tough course. Starter made a statement that we were 1 minute late. (Very aggressively) Employees in the golf shop were the cause of it by signing us up for a customer rewards card.

Preferred course in the area. Under new management, and they are keeping the course in good shape. Redoing a few holes to give them a better layout. I recommend.

Best bang for your dollar. Course is in great shape, food excellent, and terrific service. PS. Try the Ruben sandwich. Best around.
