This is one of my favorite places to go and relax. If you like painting you can get free paints and access to drawing supplies. It really is a great experience for kids, especially the "scavenger hunt" and being able to use high quality paints and drawing supplies. Every time I have been there (3 times) the Park Rangers are super helpful and thoroughly knowledgeable. I have been to a few national parks, but this is one of my favorites. Its great all year, but I have been there twice in the fall and I think its beautiful. If you like history, and know or want to learn about American impressionist painting, this is a great place. There are tours and workshops galore! That being said, this is also a great place to sit back relax and do nothing and just enjoy the land, the surroundings, and the experience.

Connecticuts only National Park. It is a quiet oasis with pastoral views and wooded trails. If you are an art lover you will love the impressionist history. It remains true to its artistic roots with a full time artist in residence. Take the tour the Park Service staff are well informed and are a pleasure to learn from.

This park was a wonderful place to wander, relax and enjoy. I only wish I had more time so that I could have taken advantage of the water colors they offer on premises. A hope to get back there soon.

Beautiful, manageable and such a well kept place. So peaceful, great trails and free painting materials if you would like to try your hand at capturing the beautiful nature around you.

Quiet, well kept national park. The junior ranger program is the best weve ever done and thats having visited over 100 national parks. Worth the detour off the highway.
