Site historique à ne pas manquer pour ceux qui aiment voyager dans la culture. El Pueblo de Nuestra Señora la Reina de los Ángeles est un village de type espagnol fondé en 1781, qui devient au cours du XXe siècle la métropole américaine de Los Angeles. Le Pueblo de Los Angeles a été la deuxième ville créée lors de la colonisation espagnole de lAlta California partie du territoire de Las Californias. La ville devient le principal centre urbain du sud de la Haute-Californie, dont la vie économique et sociale tourne autour de lélevage du bétail et les ranchs qui leur sont consacrés.

A must-go-to historical, quaint landmark dubbed as the birthplace of Los Angeles. Plenty of colorful handicrafts booths/stores, famous Mexican restaurants and several historical building–including the oldest home in the L.A. region. It features the partially restored mural "America Tropical" by the great David Alfaro Siqueiros, an obligatory stop for art and freedom of expression lovers. In addition to celebrating the Mexican heritage of Los Angeles (the place was founded by Mexicans, many of them of African descent), the place also features Chinese and Italian landmarks, testament of the contributions of other immigrants communities to L.A.

What a great day at El Pueblo! We went to the variety of exhibits around the square, and were really impressed with the museums. We also arrived before noon, so we were able to get an individualized tour of the square. The tour was fun, and we were really happy to learn a lot more about the history of the square off the beaten path. Definitely try to show up before the daily tours, since this was the highlight. Afterwards, you can check out many of the shops and events in El Pueblo, but definitely remember the history of the oldest area of LA.

it was nice, just as I remember it from about 20 some years ago, not happy that i bought this, supposedly 14k gold silver plated chain for $100. for my boyfriend, the young lady brought it down from $120. as to say that this was without guaranty, when of course, we had mentioned we were from out of town, short story, the next day my boyfriend had a huge rash on his neck, tried cortisone, gold bond cream, would not go away until we seen a Dr, and gave him allergy medication. Do not buy from this little off the side places!!

The monument has a series of plaques around the outside that document the founding families of Los Angeles. If you are a history buff, this makes for some interesting reading. Also be sure to head to the south side of the Plaza and see the old firehouse. The firehouse has an old wooden turntable that was used to turn around the horse-drawn fire wagon after it returned from a fire. Ask the docents on duty and they will gladly tell you about the history of the firehouse.

I am mexican and I really love going to the placita olvera. I have been there several times, since I was born and raised in LOS ANGELES, CA. You see many people from different cultures. It is amazing and they have good places to eat. It looks really fancy and extravagant. At least, I love it! Even the janitor from the bathroom, was very nice to me. I love the people that are there and I have so many memories coming from that place!!! I will visit every time I can!

Awesome place to relax and have fun, the park itself is quite a small place area wise, but theres a neat bench that spans most of the perimiter which makes it awesome to come hang out and relax at with lots of friends. Its very close to union station as well which makes it an attractive alternative for long metrolink/amtrak waits on days where there is pleasant weather.

Every village, town, or city has a beginning. If you want to take a look at what some of the original buildings that were built in LA, know who the original inhabitants were, and understand the foundation of culture, then this museum is your stop. There are interesting exhibits and a nice docent staff. Its free to enter and donations are welcome.

Loud Mariachi, a gazillion people, great authentic Mexican food and a wonderful carnival atmosphere. It is crowned, it is loud, but it is a beautiful dose of a reminder of what Los Angeles is and where it came from. If you have not been I would recommend you take a day and go -use the subway or metro-link since you can get off at Union Station.

Very nice area to experience and see what the culture and heritage is and remember where your roots come from. You can dine, see music performances, dancers and various other fun things to see and do. Parking can be a little difficult on the weekends so keep that and mind and depending where you park it might cost a bit more than other places.

Nice little history location. Nothing special really. Tends to be little Mexican events for the public and tourists to see and experience. Drove from north cali to see what Los Angeles has to offer. This was one of my to see places and its nice place to see once but thats all.

The salsa music and native American dancers are fun to watch. There are lots of places to eat on Olvera Street. Only issue is the unfortunate large number of homeless. Many of which are suffering from mental illness and it is heartbreaking to see.

You cant visit L.A. without stopping here. Great restaurants with good food. There are plenty of shops with great Mexican decor, nick nacks, artwork and apparel. Its a nice tourist attraction filled with history. I highly recommend it!

Many historical buildings, museums, cultural activities, and a Mexican market. The market has authentic clothing and art. Some items are "made in China," but there is plenty of authentic wares. This are also quite a few homeless.
