4 Stars.. getting close to 5 Stars.. The Gardens Casino in Hawaiian Gardens California has been completely redone. The Gardens was already a very popular casino in its original tent construct but that is now gone and replaced with a very attractive new building (the project is still under construction as of this writing.. Sep. 2016). The main facade off the parking lot is stately but lacks a big PUNCH. I would recommend they add some signage similar to what is done on the side and rear of the building (that signage is very nice but is viewed by traffic and employees (rear of building is for employees only I was told). The current sidewalk that leads from the parking area is extremely narrow and doesnt have any visual appeal. Speaking of visual appeal once you enter the casino the lobby, it has a very nice fountain with a beautiful sculpture of golden dolphins and then directly behind the sculpture is a bar restaurant setting (a favorite area with customers). Overall the visual appeal is a bit dated but still a great improvement that makes for a nice experience. I have overheard some players saying they now consider HG to be the nicest LA casino. (Not yet for me but they are approaching that). The management is doing a much better job recently (my take). I had considered the old management style to be a page out of the old west. I think the upgrade is helping to bring about a better image and efforts to make the casino experience much more enjoyable for those that are not packing (a bit of humor). The action is always playing out in the two large rooms that make up live poker. You can get round the clock action here. The casino also accommodates the high roller with a private section set aside for that experience. Finally the casino has plenty of room for daily tournaments. The sectioned tournament area is large; large enough to accommodate most events and it appears that it could easily expand into the live play area that is adjacent if it is necessary. Good design on that. The events offered keep getting better and better. Action is the issue and Los Angeles casinos, HG included, are creating a lot of ACTION; increasing the money that can be won IS smart. The current tournament is a great example of this! I am referring to "The Gardens Poker Classic" which is drawing a lot of players from far afield (I met Chris Moneymaker yesterday on the break as I played in this tournament). The Classic has a guaranteed $3,000,000 prize pool... first place prize is at least $500,000 and a beautiful new Mercedes. Very low buy in and daily satellites make this doable for most players. A professional player told me that he played in a few of the qualifiers, winning some money but more importantly improving his starting chip count for the final (smart strategy, wouldnt you agree). This way yoou can also make some money as the tournament structure pays out at 10 percent of players and qualifies 6 percent to move forward towards grand final. This very popular tournament is being played out at four LA casinos; the final days play is scheduled in December at the famous Commerce Casino. by cmilton111

Great place! I love going but the last 10 times its "donks" who play $40 NLHE ($2/$1 blinds) & will call my 4x raise with A3, cmon really? FOLD AJ if youre not going to win, last Thurday (Feb 12th) I had AhKh and a Jack and Ten on the flop. He called my preflop raise of $6 and on the flop he and I checked, on the turn a second spade appeared and he bet $20. I had a gutshot straight draw, I needed a QUEEN. I thought a while and someone called time but I came to the conclusion the odds of getting a Queen was 1 in 14.5, plus teo cards were diamonds and two were spades (2 poss. flush draws), so I folded showing my suited AK of hearts. He showed QsQd!!! I was right to fold! Othertimes, Ive had AA from the start and 72o takes it to the end with me and wins with 77722, 22277, 77772, 22227 or 7722x or 2277x. And raising preflop is useless, everyone calls. When I go to the casino and sit at the $40 no-limit table Im sitting down with only $40 in my wallet and a few dollars to take the bus back, that is it. Everyone else who sits down has at least a couple hundred dollars so if they lose that $40 they dont care. I only bring $40 which is ONE CHANCE so that way I play like its $10,000! One time I had aces and eights and the other guy had ace and Jack and the flock Patanase in the river had a Jack and he looked at as cards and I guess he didnt notice he had two pair but he threw his cards in the muck and the dealer looked at them and said sir you won and gave the pot to him and I called it a major fell because that player mucked his cards and I even had them review it on camera but yet they chose his side anyways comma I lost almost $100 but they gave me a free hat. I burned the Hat by the way. And now the free sodas are $0.50 a piece.

First, I got food poisoning, Had a Chilli Dog at the cafe lounge. I admit i was tipsy so when i ate my hot dog it felt cold, but i paid no attention to it, I was starving. I thought it was strange after when I was done, Hot Dogs are suppose to be HOT!. When I got home went to sleep two hours later had a horrible strong stomach pain, started throwing up and then you can guess what followed after at the toilet. Second, every time Ive gone to play at the poker table NL from $20,$40,$100, the type of players you get are donkeys. I admit those are the players you want to play against because mathematical youll win most of the time. But when your in a table with 8 donkeys your gonna loose playing a solid game almost all the time. Example; I got pocket kings K,K in middle position I was in seat 5 in the $100NL, I had about between $155-$175 chips. Under the Gun raised $20 I smooth called to get more callers. Seat 6 goes all-in everyone folds I call only really scared of A,A he shows 2-9 what a Donkey. Stupid flop 2,7,9. Turn blank, river blank. Lost a $400 pot Stupid Ridiculous Bad Beat :/. I got lots more dumb stories to share but you get my point. Never going there again unless I have no choice Cause I Love poker but Im never eating the food again. Third, the parking, you dont get a choice to self park. Lame. The only good thing I have to say is the Casino looks nice from the inside.

The casino is racist toward black women, mostly toward hispanic and blacks! Lots of ugly asians working there! Lots of sad, old tired faces!! A lot of them fugitives! 2 token coons, and 2 whites! If your not asian and go there! They will call security to follow you around and stare at you! They are racist! And assume anyone who isnt asian/ is there to rob or up to no good!! If your normal! And want to be around normal peole/ dont go there! Dont go there and gamble! They will treat you like a weirdo:! You will be treated differently from everyone else! My female friend went with me/ and they told her...that if she plays two hands/ anyone could play her second seat too and make the betting decision! Very evil people! These people Rig the games! And are terrorists! The FBI needs to investigate! Mostly drug money! A lot of opium users there!
