Hmm where to begin with Vellano... This course just feels like it has/had so much potential. First off the views are awesome, I would recommend playing at least once just because of the views alone. Now the course itself, leaves a lot to be desired. There was just so much potential that was wasted. There are about 7 well designed holes that are both playable but also provide a decent challenge. The remaining are just stupid. I myself am merely an average golfer, but played with a 8hcp, 13cp, and scratch golfer. None of them liked it either. It would be one thing to have 3 or 4 holes that are just stupid hard, but its just shot after shot that are nearly impossible for 95% of golfers. The scratch golfer even stated that Greg Norman must have been high when designing the course. Most people in the group gave up on trying to shoot a decent round, and instead spent the remainder of the time trying to hit ridiculous trick shots. Maybe one day they will have enough cash flow for a re-design, and could then really have something special. Given that there are often good deals, and the course is usually in good shape, the above could be overcome. However there are a few other issues. Given that this tries to be a half country club, multiple times I have had groups jump ahead to the first tee, and just say "well we are members." This may be true, but unfortunately you cant get enough "members" and thus need to sell tee times to the public, so at the very least you should show a little respect to the customers that are keeping the club from going bankrupt. Secondly, pace of play. Over six hours, and no one at the course seems to care... So if you dont mind wasting a whole day, and about 20 golf balls, I highly recommend you check out this course. Otherwise I would shop around.

Ive lived here for 7 whole years. Few reason to dislike this place: 1. There used to be a bomb factory here. Uranium particles exist, causing cancer, which 2 people have been the victim of. 2. There is a weapons factory in the hills. They make guns and grenades. 3. The owner of Vellano is poor and almost broke. He turned it into a public club, and still charge us "Members" $450 a month! How unfair! 4. The hilltop gate "guards" dont do anything. Just say "I live here" and they let you in. 5. Shady teenagers/young adults hang out by the Vellano park at night in pickup trucks and baseball bats. You may really want to reconsider moving here, unless youre moving in to a house at the gate before the hill. There are no dangers there, but theres no security guard at all.

Great layout, awesome views. The fairway grass is dormant now, so it was not as visually attractive as it would be during the summer. My wife and I played and we hardly saw another golfer, which was great for us, but no so great for the club. If they dont get more play, it may not last. I would much rather pay $55 and play this breat layout (Greg Norman design) than play the cheapo courses like Dos Lagos that are poorly designed and tricked up. Give it a try. Youll be happy you did.

Dont come here. Dont play here. Racist GM of golf club is named Keith Park. Refused entire foursome due to "inappropriate" attire with no warning after taking our foursomes money 3 weeks prior in exact same attire. In his smarmy e-mail response Mr. park compared his club vs. one in Compton. As a minority I am offended and all should be offended. Thank You.

A true hidden 5-Star country club golf course designed by crazy Greg Norman. Beautiful holes but stupid arcade style of play. On top of the crosswinds to deal with, the ravines - you have to figure out where to play the break on the fairways.

Nice course...but you better be in good shape,cart paths are 40 to 50 feet above most greens..which means you are walking up and down hills to reach the green,wore me out after the 14th hole

This place is dead no one on the golf course no one in the Pro Shop no one to be seen anywhere. The course its totally run down very tricky to play and almost impossible to have a good time

The place is beautiful. Lots of rolling green hills. Magnificent, perfect for the WEDDING I attended July 4th weekend. Staff was great except one server. Overall a very nice experience.
