I believe this was the 8th year that we had played this great course. Do to the extreme amount of rain course was very wet and sand traps full of water. Nothing can be done about that. All 4 of us missed the do not drive on fairway sign right by the cashier sign. We must be blind our fault. We were informed of this shortly after starting but wondered why other golfers were seen driving on fairways. On Sunday, we again missed the sign but as we were on tee box seen golfers in front of us on fairways. We reached hole number 4 and a golfer in our 4 some hit his drive on north side of fairway and he started crossing fairway on 90 degree angle and person on fairway mower on 4 tee box hollered at him and said something not very professional. This person also continued to mow on tee box while we were teeing off. This was mentioned to the Marshal that we seen on 5 tee box. He told us then fairways only. Young lady in beer cart we met on 5 green said she had seen other golfers driving in fairways. Understand course under new management and we missed Becky and her staff. Young people in club house were outstanding and very friendly. Days we were there was cooler than normal and wet and did not want to sit outside on deck to eat lunch. Felt a little out of place by sitting at tables with white table cloths set up for lunch. In past years, we have ate lunch at club house but did not this year. Must admit food we seen looked delicious. Maybe have plain old tables for golfers. Had a red draw and it was $6.50 and thought that was a little to much. Over all we had another good time playing golf and will be back. We will adjust our plans before getting there and not after we our there. Our fault for not seeing the very obvious sign posted saying do not drive on fairways.

I cannot say enough good things about Becky and the staff at Shining Mountain Golf Club. Choosing this location for our wedding was very easy for us since we are avid golfers and love the scenery. Becky was very patient and answered all our questions over the year-and-a-half that we took to plan. In the last week leading up to the wedding, she was in touch with us several times and gave us full access to the room to decorate. The day of our wedding, she was exceptionally attentive. She went way beyond our expectations by carting us around the course to take pictures, scrubbing grass and grease out of my dress, and staying in close communication with our DJ and photographer to keep everything on track. Even though Becky is the person we communicated with most, the entire staff at the golf course deserve recognition as well. Kurt, who was tending bar the night of the wedding as well as the day before, deserves extra recognition because of his great attitude. Unlike other venue options, we were NOT put on a set timeline due to another wedding needing the room. The food we chose was exceptional and several guests asked who catered, because they couldnt believe a golf course could provide such wonderful food. We got personalized service, an exceptional view of Colorado, AWESOME food, and great staff. There is no doubt in my mind that we made the absolute BEST choice in vendors. I will recommend Shining Mountain to any and all people who are looking for a venue for their wedding.

I just played this course 6/3/17. Im around a 10 handicap and I played from the tips. I read several reviews before playing so my expectations werent super high. I was blown away at how nice the course conditions were. Dont understand some of the past reviews. Its up there w pine creek. Slightly better because holes are way cooler. If u play from the tips the course is even better because they have several elevated tee boxes. Like extremely elevated. Very lush fairways and greens esp for a mountain course. No dead spots on greens. Cant beat it for the money. Its very peaceful being in the mountains. Some of the holes are so secluded and really gives you that mountain course feel. The only knock I can have on this place is that they didnt rake the bunkers the morning I played. It had rained the night before so maybe they dont do it when that happens. Also I had booked a tee time thru their website for me and a buddy. Paid 20 percent down to book online. He came down w bronchitis and I couldnt get refunded the money for his spot. Management should fix that. So book via telephone. If u want to impress your golfing buddies take them here. Its worth the drive.

Too bad the manager starts the game with irritation, never a good way to start a golf game. Consistently rude and consistently there, unfortunetely. It is a known fact among us locals and is talked about more and more, not to mention the price is high for not well kept greens. We rather drive the half hour down to Colorado Springs to enjoy a nice golf game from start to finish at one of the many courses available, my recommendation is Patty Jewitt. As far as the course, it is a bit more difficult and not so well kept. The biggest downfall is the houses are too close. Strongly urge you not to waste your time. Woodland Park is beautiful and has many great things to offer, but not the golf course.

My husband and I just got married there 09/06/2014. I have got to say with the stress as a bride I couldnt be more happy with how Becky handled my day! She was right there helping me keeping me stress free! She made sure I had everything I needed she even made sure I had mints 1min before I had to walk down. What an amazing day and if Becky wasnt there I dont know if it would have went by so smooth even battling with the weather she knew exactly what to do. What an amazing venue and food! Our guests and family are still talking about it! I recommend this place for anyone who wants a beautiful venue with great food and service! Thank you Shining Mountain Golf Club Staff!

What a beautifully lush and sophisticated mountain wedding venue. As a wedding photographer, it is wonderful to work here because it is an all day venue, no stressing about trying to rush through photos. Additionally, Becky Clifford is a wonderful wedding coordinator, she goes above and beyond to make sure the bridal party and all the guests have an amazing experience!!

The course itself earns the 4 stars. Such a fun location for ball or disc golf! Very well designed course, so players arent in each others way. Love watching my husband play, in a golf cart with a bloody Mary! From what Ive tried (spinach calzone and poppers) food is decent. Only thing that Id like to see would be a restroom out on the far side of the course.

Top 5 "course for the money" I have ever played and I play all over the US. Now its not perfect...some of the holes are tight and challenging, and you will see a few dead spots on the greens, but you have to remember its tough to have perfect grass at 8500 feet up. The staff is very friendly!
