Such a disappointment - I had booked a Living Social deal with This is the Place to do horseback riding, and closely read the details of the coupon, since I have a limited schedule and can only sign up for weekends. I had contacted their office several times to set up an appointment, with most of my calls going to the voicemail. When I finally reached someone to help, James, he told me that the details of the Living Social deal excluded Fridays and Saturdays, though it was not mentioned online or with the coupon at all. I explained this, and he said hed call me back, since the day I was planning on was "basically all free." After waiting 4 days, not hearing anything, and calling twice with no answer, I finally reached James again - apparently now "all" of the dates were booked, there was "nothing he could do," and he was too busy to give me any information on if I would be able to get a refund. I was really disappointed, since we were looking forward to doing this activity for our 5-year anniversary and there was no information on the Living Social website about limited dates or availability. I hope I am able to get a refund, and would not recommend this location.

My children all enjoyed the free day with free ice cream. I would have given more stars if they had stayed open just a little longer than 5pm. My children were upset they didnt get to see all that it had to offer. We would have tried to arrive earlier but based on balances schedules for my family of 7 it was the best we could do. I also wish they had provided maps at the beginning of the park. This would have made it easier to manage our time and prioritize our time given we did have limited time. Oh and also I was disappointed that they closed the bathrooms as we were exiting the park, this was frustrating with a six year old the couldnt hold it. Overall we enjoyed the pony rides, the petting zoo, seeing small animals, education about Utah history etc.. We will for sure be back.

This is The Place is THE place to have a wedding or reception!!! Oh my Heavens, I cant even begin to explain how incredible our reception went. The staff here are so kind and so professional, they do an amazing job of working with your vision for the event. I chose the Atkin Home for our reception and it was truly a dream come true and more the way it all came together. Guest after guest could not say enough about how much they lived the venue and what a wonderful feeling was there. It was beautiful. More than I imagined to be possible. I will have the sweetest memory in my heart forever of what a beautiful evening my Love and our many loved ones shared together. I could not recommend this venue enough. And the value of what you pay is incredible as well. Check it out!

Ive been here with small children, young adults, and family old and young from out of town. Everyone who has come has had a good experience. My grandfather who has a hard time walking had a hard time getting around because things are so spread out but still enjoyed it. I took my in laws who arent from the US on the horse back ride and they loved it. It isnt the best or most interesting thing for people who have actually rode horses but they loved the experience. It takes you up above the park on a trail. It was worth the money I paid for the experience. Everyone loves the hamburgers and huge ice cream cones. With young adults we went to the haunted thing and it was more about enjoying the time instead of being really scared. It seems like this is for everyone.

Took the family here for an afternoon and we had a lot of fun. Our little ones were able to experience life as a pioneer while having some fun. We took the little train ride Around the park, petted some animals, rode a horse, washed some clothes on a washboard, watched some leather working, tilled the garden and took in the beautiful SLC view. Our kids loves it and didnt want to leave! They also have a cute little gift shop. The biggest bummer was that we went on a weekday in the Fall so some of the events were not taking place and the doughnut shop was closed (a bit of a bummer). We will definitely come back when it is running at full capacity.

This is the Place Heritage Park is a fantastic family friendly location. Many of our lawyers and staff from the Salt Lake City office have been here and whenever visitors come to town we try to send them to the great local spots, this being one of them. There are so many things to do at the park and a family could easily spend an entire day having old-times fun. You can also pick of local food at the park and in surrounding areas so that you can keep yourself well nourished. The price is a little steep, but if you want to have a unique adventure in a pioneer-like setting then this is a good choice for you.

This place has grown up! The last time I visited was in the early 90s and I am impressed with what they have done with this historical site. It is super family friendly with lots of pioneer activities for kids and grown ups alike! You can wash clothes, pow the fields, pet the animals, ride horses, enjoy lunch, make jewellery with Indians and shop at the exquisite gift shop! If you dont want to trek through the pioneer village you can ride the train! I have been rather hesitant to visit Heritage Park for fear of Mormon proselytising, but I didnt get that vibe at all!

A great place to learn some history in a fun way. Participate in activities and see the homes and businesses as they were in pioneer times. Up the hill is just wild grassland and trees so it feels very authentic. Bonus for you Halloween lovers, they do a Haunted Village here which is a lot of fun. They set up some story and then you walk through the trails of the village and into the various buildings. All done up in haunted fashion. Jump scares and people following you. Nothing super intense but probably not for younger than teens. Very well done and popular.

Well, its a nice place, if you can get work around the sense that their take on history has been whitewashed a fair amount. I suppose it just felt too idyllic to be authentic. Its kind of like Disneyland for Mormons. I wish theyd made it more inclusive and less glowing. There were certainly other people here at the time, non-Mormons even, and Native Americans. Their stories were nowhere to be found at This Is The Place. I suppose its meant to be The Place where Mormons can feel good about their past, but for this non-Mormon it was a bit much to stomach.

A very beautiful location overlooking the valley. Many activities throughout the entire year. We have visited in every season and its always beautiful and simple taking you back to Pioneer days. There are several lovely venues for events, parties and wedding receptions and the grounds are well kept and always look very nice. Plenty of parking, great for kids so check out their calendar to see what they have going on for each season. Located across the street from the Hogle Zoo.
