Theres very little to like and enjoy about this facility. Much of the staff is young, irresponsible and unprofessional. Acting managers, specifically the young black girl who assist with front desk, lacks tremendously in problem solving and customer relations. Every friday and saturday as of late, staff has been kicking members out 5-10 minutes earlier then scheduled closing time. A gym is not a preschool, playground, or open field for kids to be kicking balls, running up and down the corridors or lounging area, playing tag in the restrooms, or misusing, abusing, and stealing various limited exercise equipment. But the greatest turn off, are some of the employees. To pay $35 plus per month, to be rushed out is not worth the money. There is no gain investing in a gym that is unable to maintain gym equipment, such as treadmills that skip, cut out, or do not provide sound for music or television. Yes, I know sounds childish. But thats what I pay for, as well as many others... to have the convenience of using a properly functioning machine or equipment. If the Y staff cant tolerate displeased customers complaining to them without giving the eye roll, then perhaps the Y executives should consider properly training their staff, or lower the cost. Trust me, the Y is no LVAC, to be charging what they do.

The premises is new and has changed in my 8 years as a member of this YMCA. I find the classes over stimulated with estrogen and not conducive to a real work out. They need a back to fundamentals maybe testosterone filled class to cater to more men who would like a class atmosphere without the BLARING MUSIC and DANCE MOVES. I have been a member of many gyms in my 4 decades of gym memberships. Including the Evanston YMCA were it was a true gym before the masses realized the importance of health fitness. The front desk seems indifferent to you and offers NO real solution or advise on what the Y offers and simply hands out towels and makes SURE your paying your dues. Sandra (pinky) is a great resource but not used enough to the mainstream and unfortunately sits in the back not offering her years of experience in helping the customers get well. This is a fair and HONEST review.

I brought my 4 year old son to this center and he WAS NOT HAPPY with it and it was stressful for me. First when i get there i try n get a locker but for some reason they dont even sell locks there so then when i put his arm floaties on they tell me arm floaties are not allowed, i need a life jacket and why they didnt tell me this at the door, I have no clue... He has been to big water parks in texas before and they would not let him on there small, cheap little water sllides with a life vest on. I jus thought that was so rediculous. My son was sooo mad & dissapointed when I told him he couldnt go on the water slides or jumping board. We had an ok time on the other side of the pool but he kept asking to go on the jumping board and slide. It was a toatal dissapointment, I dont go to community centers to tell my child he cannot participate in the real fun stuff!

Ive lived all over the country. Youre not going to find too many gyms better than this. This is a top notch facility with pretty friendly atmosphere. I think the people who complain about having to show up on time to get into a class, or having to abide by rules is laughable. The wieght and arobics room is large but always busy. The philosophy of this particualr Y seems to be designed around the classes they offer. There is a wide variety of classes that suit just about whatever stage of life youre in. Theres an indoor pool and an outdoor pool with two slides. Two basketball courts. Also closeby are some cool family parks if the weather isnt too blazing hot. Or the library accross the street. All in all, youre not going to find much better unless your whole reason for going is for lifting wieghts. Then LVAC or 24 hour fitness might be a better choice.

Nice location, really friendly staff. Clean facilities. Even some free classes! Comparing this gym to other gyms I have been to like planet fitness and x-sport fitness. Some military base gyms (keep in mind not all military gyms are nice, a lot are small, old, outdated, with broken equipment) I give this a 3 for the gym part of the y itself because that is what I use it for. They have a small weight only area and a small area for mixed cardio an weight equipment. Those areas can fill up really quick during a peak time period. Though nights usually seem pretty dead. As a whole the YMCA is nice and probably 4 stars if you are not just there for the gym. Not a bad place though. Thumbs up to the staff!

The Kids Gym is fantastic. Both my boys play for up to two hours while I get to work out in the cardio room or take a class or two! Now, my older sons asks me every day if we can go to Kids Gym, and of course I say yes! I havent gotten to go to a gym in over three years. It is sooo nice to have some "me" time and get healthy, too! My oldest has also attended the summer pre-school, and it seems to be worth the money. They actually do group activities and crafts, which is more than I expected from a summer preschool camp! Love Love LOVE the Y!!!

I stopped swimming because there is not a separate mens and boys locker room All I need is to come out the pool having showed up without shaving and not combing my hair after I have dried off just to have some over zealous mother think I look like a child molester. Questioning her child and pushing the child to give her the answer she wants to hear. From there on I go on a sex offender list. Nope, not going to happen. I stay away from the pool. I have brought this to the attention of the membership staff. Other then that it is a great facility.

Pretty happy with my experience. Bought the 109$ individual summer pass mainly for the fitness classes. So far I have been to about 12 or so classes and Im in my second week of membership. One thing is I wish the hours of the fitness classes were better spread out (ie, some in the middle of the day). They only have morning classes before 12:30 ish and then again after 4 or 5. I also wish there were MORE yoga classes. There are a ton of Zumba classes (which is ok, i do go to some of them) but there isnt enough yoga or pilates.

The staff is kind, understanding and happy to answer questions. Their programs are for any type of need from disabled to weight training. Two pools are clean and well maintained. Some insurances pays your membership fees. Have been a member of other Ys and this one beats them all. In the same building is a Senior center that has a fee of $10.00 for 2017 and has a wonderful variety of things for do, learn and especially enjoy the wonderful company of all!!
