My girlfriend, three of my friends, and I went to the John Wick showing at 7:00 tonight 2/10, at your Apple Valley, Minnesota theater. At the end of the previews and the first 30 seconds of the movie, I explained to my one friend what happened in the first movie that he didnt see. I was talking softly. At about 30 seconds into the movie starting, an older gentlemen in his 60s/70s sitting in the row ahead of us stood up, turned around, and told us to "Shut the f$&@up". We asked him what was that? He then turned around again and told us the same thing and then put his hand on a gun he had strapped on him. He then yelled at us again and asked us if he made himself clear, or if we needed to escalate this further. We told him this theater was a gun free zone and he proceeded to say he was going to get a manager. The manager came up and told us we needed to leave for being disruptive. We then told the manager he threatened us with a gun. He then kicked us 5 and the older man and his wife out. We were confused by this obviously. We demanded he called the cops so we could file a police report. He maintained the whole time even with the cops there that we would not be allowed back in because we were being disruptive and yelling and swearing during the movie. This never happened until a man threatened us with a gun that he showed and threatened us with multiple times. Im just writing this to inform you that your manager did not handle this situation correctly at all and he probably should get trained on this for the future. Its an easy decision to never go to a movie at a Carmike again after this. Totally wrong that us 5, who were threatened with a gun at a gun free facility were kicked out and told to leave. Id love to hear back from you. Josh

Pros: -Good popcorn -Big D theater lives up to its name and is very comfy -They show a lot of bollywood films Cons: -Some of the staff can be pretty awful - the bad ones either dont want to service you or give an impression that they dont -Some of the rooms will have projectors that will occasionally simply stop working, causing a delayed movie showing -In all of the rooms Ive seen showings in except for the Big D, has burnt out/broken light bulbs/fixtures that never get fixed or changed -Probably my biggest gripe - the constant commercials. You show up half an hour early, theres a half hour of commercials, thats understandable. But then showing ANOTHER half hour of commercials when the movie is supposed to start? I payed a ticket to see a movie, not commercials. The same hand full of commercials all playing on a loop. NOTE: Some of the reviews that came before mine are written by staff members (and are pretty generous with their ratings...). You can interpret that however you want.

Since it became AMC the movies start late or dont start at all (Wonder Women) and the place is dirty! The staff are incredibly lazy too. 06/25/2017 - Today we went to see the Transformers. We paid for the Big D and 3D. When the movie started it was green and out of focus. When I finally got the manager, he acted like it was my problem. About half way through the movie they finally fixed it. But it was not Big D but mini-D with a left blurry border. I mean how many times does this management be allowed to keep their jobs? This is the third movie in a row that was not working correctly. I think this theater needs to go out of business! I wont be returning! Oh and thank you Green Hair girl for being so nasty! That hair color does absolutely nothing for you except make you look like a FREAK!

A few years ago this theater offered a bucket of popcorn that you could refill for free for the rest of the year. They went back on that and after that it was simply discounted. They did not offer to give me my money back for the original purchase of the bucket. Other than that, its a pretty typical movie theater to this day. A little outdated as new ones have popped up around but not too bad. Underpaid kids providing weak service. At the prices we pay these days for movies, I would at least expect decent service. Not sure if they have fixed it yet, but I know there was at least one video game that didnt work in the arcade on multiple visits and there was never a sign warning people not to put their money in it.

They wouldnt even give me a call or email justifying why they wouldnt hire me. I recently got diagnosed for bipolar disorder and if I had to make a guess, that was probably one of the main reasons the manager assumed I wasnt "fit" for the position. Just because Im bipolar does not mean I lack work etiquette. It just means its a little bit harder to maintain my temper when I dont have my daily pill. Need I mention how dirty this theater looks in comparison to every other one Ive movie-d in? Do your homework next time manager. It might actually make your workplace look better for once.

Wanted to catch 2017 Beauty and the Beast after it was gone from my local theater on the way back from the airport. Not crowded, you dont have to pre-buy exact location seats, sound system and video looked pretty good for 2D. Tickets were 6 or 7 dollars, but concessions are pretty steep. You buy tickets at the concession. The upgraded theater has better sound and seats, most theaters are pretty average. Lots of places to eat nearby including an super world Asian buffet which is ok but there are better ones for the money if you drive farther away.

Lots of parking, most of the times Ive been there the theater has had plenty of available seating. They put the better movies in this mega sized screen theater. The 1 thing they do thats weird is most of the times Ive been they sell the ticket at the concession area. It might be to save on staffing, I dont know, but Ive never had to wait long to get a ticket. Ive also found that their candy is very reasonably priced. Unlike other theaters I dont even bother to sneak it in. They do have an arcade inside that has some good classic 80s games.

The workers, from the past few times that Ive been there, have been really rude and not considerate. My girlfriend asked if she could keep the ticket stub and the guy said sure but crinkled it up and then handed it to her, like wtf.. It was just really uncomfortable situation and I was unhappy, not to mention the popcorn was stale. Chairs are the worst part I think, especially in long movies as theres hardly any cushion so your butt will be raw after. I will drive out of my way to go elsewhere.

I like the theater, but I would really like to know, along with the movie times, which showings are on the Big D screen. To me that screen gives me sensory overload. I prefer not to see movies on that big screen. But it seems like every time I pick a time, when I go to buy my ticket, I find its on the Big D screen. So I leave and go to a movie somewhere else. I live right across the street from the Apple Valley Carmike Theater, so I would much prefer to go there, but not to the Big D screen.
