I have a young family and my children are drawn to art and love their regular visits to NYC museums. My daughter who had been here on school trips insisted on extending her stay at Bruce Park by paying the museum a visit. It gets 1 star solely on its interesting contemporary global impressionist collection and a welcoming front desk employee, Whitney. The rest of the visit was marred by a menacing security officer, a woman in her 30s, who repeated "ssshhs" constantly throughout our 15 mn visit everytime my children forgot to whisper and just talked. An old guide with 3 women in the group kept staring at us in a hostile way and when my 7 year old whispered how she should spell impressionism, the old guide turned around and sternly yelled, I told you to be quiet. It was unbelievable and hurtful. Soon after when I tried taking a phone photo of the painting (and no where did it say that photographs were not allowed), the security guard yelled from a distance of almost 20 meters, No pictures. It was an extremely unfriendly place to say the least and since we happen to be a colored family, I can only draw the obvious conclusion on the disgusting attitudes of those who represent this institution.
4.5 stars. I enjoyed everything about it, but, like everywhere in Fairfield County, it is somewhat overpriced. Its not a big museum at all, and the permanent art collection on display is pretty small, but I did really like the three special exhibitions. The first was a series of lovely watercolors of the American Impressionism School, the second was a group of fun (and unusual) animal lithographs by Andy Warhol, and the third, my favorite, was twenty photos from a contest involving microscopic photography, something Id never seen before. Amazing! The staff were helpful and polite, parking is a cinch, and the building is handsome, even nicely situated. But ten dollars is a little high for a small museum you can see in an hour. Probably 6 or 7 would be right. But I realize many art museums are in a crunch, and most are getting pretty pricey. Unfortunately, this is counterproductive to gaining a wider audience.

STARLAB! Planetarium 1:05 P.M. exhib on Feb. 12, 2012 was EXCELLENT!!! I also enjoyed viewing the fine art work display. I frequently visited the Museum when I lived in Glenville. The interior and exterior has greatly improved. Returning to the Museum is a exciting experience after not visiting for many years. My colorful clay clown was in a contest years ago. I received a Honorable Mention ribbon. I enjoyed visiting the art room. Jewelery exhibit sparkled and gleamed bright. Happy Valentines Day. Robin L. Knudsen HONOR
This museum stands out with its mix of science and art shows. They have the most amazing works that places like the Met and MoMA would die for and there is not the crowd of selfie-stick wielding tourists getting in your way. This is a fantastic treasure with great lectures, fantastic exhibitions and great family programming.
Well not look in the air the same way. Dr. Dan is a gift to the community. He made the presentation on the array of bird species and the "great bird" so engaging that I cant wait to come back to learn more and more of the body of science that he will offer. Great thanks and he is a gem in our midst. Brenda Lydecker
We come here once a week on average during the school year because it is so educational and fun. New art installations regularly and the gift shop is awesome! Great botique gifts for holiday shopping, stocking stuffers, Etc. Museum staff are all so warm and friendly. Great place for all ages.
Im expectant. Wed like to check out this museum and i always like to review places before hand. Because we are a black family... one of the comments has me a little hesitent, but it was 2 ago... and seems to be the only. So cant wait to visit!
Great little museum that has a little of everything. Parking is in front of the museum, staff is polite and friendly, and no huge crowds like the ones in the city. Easy to get to. I highly recommend this place . A true Gem!
Fine small Museum conveniently located in central Greenwich right off I-95. ~10 new exhibits a year and many programs are reasons to return again and again. A really community asset. Fine for quick visits, easy parking.
Nice Natural Science Museum with a strong Art/History backing. Take a second to appreciate that the building is an enclosure, adding more working space, to the original museum, the Bruces victorian mansion.
Love the museum their permanent viewings are great, its a fantastic place to see different historical pieces, numerous animals, minerals/rocks, and the artwork collections monthly some of the best Ive seen.
A little gem just off I95 exit 4. Free on Tuesdays! Rotating main exhibition is focused on paintings. A bit expensive on other days for a very small museum.
Its a cozy museum not many artifacts though.. good place to spend quality 1 hour with kids.. it also has good parking space..
Small but nice collection. Worth a visit. Frequently has special events which may require registration. Ample parking.
It had a great Robotics Show a few years ago. R2D2, Robbie the Robot, and many really neat robots and things.
