We took a pit stop here on a trip recently. We were very impressed by all this place had to offer. Lots of information about the area, and had some great activities for the kids while we took a little pit stop. Theres a little mine obstacle course (for like 2-5 year old), local geography/history and even a one full 2-story wall that contains an animated model of the Mollie Kathleen mine complete with animated mine lift, workers, etc. Breathtaking views of the Rockies outside too. We just needed a short break, but believe it or not, when we go back, we might plan a special trip just to go back to this place.

Fascinating place to start your journey of Cripple Creek! Loved the huge windows that allowed you to identify mountains/ ranges; loved the 2-story working diorama of the Molly Kathleen Mine; loved reading a bit of history about EACH of the people groups that came to make up the town of Cripple Creek; and loved the pictures and NAMES of the miners - identifying who they were personalized the dangerous work they were doing, and some of them were soooo young!

This place is definitely worth stopping in. It is filled with so much information from Native American impact, mining life, and animas of the region. They even have a dinosaur and fossil exhibit! The bottom floor has a model train that runs around the mining city and some wagons. Its a great time if you have an hour to spend!

The Heritage Center was perfect. . Lots of great historical displays and information about Cripple Creek and Victor. It is a MUST to see. We were greeted upon entry, but they werent real helpful. The visitor center part was lacking, but the informational information was great! Totally deserves a 5 rating.

This is the cliffnotes history of Cripple Creek. Very kid oriented with lots of areas kids can participate actively in. While this very new museum was nice and had a lot to look at, I enjoyed the museum in downtown Cripple Creek more.

This three-story regional history museum is very well done. They have a floor dedicated to mining, a floor dedicated to dinosaurs, and a floor for pioneer life. We (2 adults and 2 kids) enjoyed all of the displays, and it is free.
